Dawes again in the rehab group come January.  Has this bloke completed a full pre season since joining us?

Of course not. Don't know why your acting surprise. Said the moment we picked him up that it was a massive mistake due to his degenerative knee problems and fragile body. Im sure he is a good bloke but he is a very very ordinary player who can't do the one basic key thing a power forward does and that is mark the ball.

Wish Dawesy all the best for this year thoug.. Think 2016 will be his last in red and blue.

He is looking fit! Nice run throughs today. Showed Gawn, Spensil and Viney a clean pair of heals. Viney is walking like he's gonna have a big year though. 

I would like nothing more than for Dawes to have the best season of his life and kick 60 goals, but the reality is that it was a horrible decision to trade for him at that price and he's never going to be a significant factor in our forward line.  Quite frankly he should be third in line for the second key forward slot right now and playing out his career at Casey.  There is more value to the side in giving game time to King, Weiderman and Hulett than in putting Dawes on the park. 

I hope Howe is as good for Collingwood as Dawes and the Prince have been for us.

Gravity wouldn't get a game if I were coach and picking from a full list. Personally I prefer Pedersen/Frost, I've heard Hulett is training the house down and could be worthy of a shot, I'd even rather have someone like Garland or Dunn up there if they could be replaced down back. There is just no value to a key forward that can't hold a mark.

Think the window's closed on Dawes !!

90% of your posts are thread starters. Would be great if you could contribute to existing threads....like a training thread already covering the rehab group and Chris Dawes.

Some people just think their views are more important than others, and therefore they need to start a new thread.  There's always a few.

Well said.  This is the slowest football month of the year though so people will pull anything out of their back pocket to get 'discussion' going.

Dawes has been a constant frustration in his time at the club, but from what I rather with him being in the rehab group (and this is not as a deep insider or anything) he's now just being constantly managed with his workload so expect it to be a regular thing.

As for his abilities on field, when he's on he can be a great link man and he does actually work hard, but I feel if Pedders can stay fit this year he can take over that spot. I feel we get more out of Cam as he can also pinch hit ruck and can drop back in defence if needed.

If he doesn't play well then he'll get traded but won't be here in 2017.

That would be another case of doping.

 Chris Dawes is one of the most important players for our club in 2016.  Jesse Hogan will be targeted next season, he needs the seasoned big body next to him.  Like to see Pedersen as the third tall and give the young talls time to develop.  To have a forward line like below gives us a chance

I bloody hope not, not if he is going to deliver what he has so far

I don't have the contempt for him that many do, but it has to be said that in his 44 games over 3 years he has only had an 'important' impact maybe 10 times at best

and as the OP has pointed out, he's missed one game out of every three for injury, which clearly doesn't help

I don't think we should play Hogan/Dawes/Pedo all in the same forward line. It's too much, we need another mid instead IMO.

Yes Hogan will be targeted, that's where Watts and Pedo need to really step up. Whether it is Pedo or Dawes we really need some consistency, as we know both were injured at different stages last year.

When Gawn goes to the bench Pedo plays ruck and we can put another mid (VB/KENNEDY) up forward for a couple of minutes and mix it up a bit. 

If teams look to double team Hogan and Pedo can just hold his own and be competitive enough to warrant watching Watts could/should run riot.

Hogan was targeted last year....clubs knew he was our biggest forward threat from day one. Nothing will be different about how Dawes is treated by the opposition in 2016.

Agreed. He had the all-australian full back on him in his 4th match of footy - and he touched him up too! Hogan himself will be even more of a monster, and his quality and quantity of supply should be improved a step - can't see the clamps being put on him in any serious way.

The Pedo myths are strong in this thread....
