I hope you are all right however I cannot understand the confidence many seem to have.

The guy was a very good junior  and we have seen a lot of them end up delisted when they join the big boys.

He has not played a game anywhere since 2014 in the juniors surely that means he is going to take a little time to show his wears at VFL level before he gets a chance at senior level.

He is also coming back from a serious knee injury.

We have seen a number of saviours rushed into the senior side to quickly over the last decade can we please give the kid a chance to find his feet?

His build and movement reminds me of Darren Jarman. Of course, given he hasn't played a game of Senior footy yet, I can't talk about how he plays, just who he looks like.

I believe Trac will first do some solid weeks of training, play a half for cases, then a full game followed by another and if he plays well in both will be in line for a call up. Round 4-5 would be about what I'd expect if he plays well at Casey.

I think they also have a similair size and body shape too. Both explosive off the mark and very strong in the body. Big backsides..  Everyone has Petracca pegged as a midfielder but I feel hes going to be an enigmatic  superstar forward much like Jaka.

You're just advertising the fact that you have zero clue about this player.

If you had any understanding of his history or talent you wouldn't post what you have.

My guess is that each of Petracca, Brayshaw and Trengove will come into the side in a staggered way designed to maximise their usefulness for supercoach teams.

But i don't put Trengove and Pettracca in the same category. 

I have said all along i don't think Trenners will play again with the injury he has had

if he does good luck to him, but the stress of full time running in match conditions is still a way off

It was a silly comment that I'd expect from a half-interested supporter who rarely attends games and certainly wouldn't post on a footy forum.  And I know that's not the case.

Petracca is a dynamic midfielder, who most experts had as pick one.  He box squats 200kg.  His next senior coach told Wayne Carey he's the best talent he's ever seen (albeit from the training track).  He's quick, strong as a bull, a fantastic mark and kicks 60 metres with ease. 

Like Dustin Martin and Ollie Wines, Petracca will rag doll the "big boys" from day one.  Subject to injury he's as safe a bet as there's going around.

There's a reason we bid on Heeney, who will be a star, there's a reason we bid on Callum Mills, who showed in one game he'll be a star, there's a reason we drafted Brayshaw, who'll be a star, there's a reason we drafted Oliver, who will be a star, and there's a reason we drafted Petracca.  There's a reason he's favourite to win the RS even after his knee and toe.  

Just like we knew Hogan would hit the ground running and become a star, many view Petracca in the same light.  I know I do. 

 

I watched him a bit at training today, and without trying to jinx the kid....but he is good.

Pinpoint kicks, strong frame, appears quick, good leap and can take a grab - watched him take speccies over Crossy who was wearing the mat thing. 

Can't wait to see him out there.

Surely old dee you can see the difference between Trac and the likes of Morton, Gusberts, $cully.

I think Old Dee's position is spot on.  We had a player not so long ago that came to us with all the same if not better attributes this guy has, like him  missed early football because of injury and was one of the most talented frustrating players on our list, then Fremantle took him off our hands before he was walked.  If you compare Trac and Col Sylvia when he was drafted they are exactly the same.  Hopefully Trac makes the most of his talent.

A lot of things have changed you are correct mono.

However I stick with my comment that he has only proved at this point that he was a good junior footballer.

And we should give him a chance to find his feet at senior level.

The big difference is between the ears.

Bumped into Dave Misson last week and asked him about Petracca. He said Petracca will start the year playing VFL to get match fitness and touch. Don't expect to see him for a few matches yet. He was very excited at him as a talent though and said his power is unlike many players he's ever worked with before.

Yes, I've seen Goodoil make that comparison. 

Clearly, I disagree. 

Edit: I should add ... Sylvia was very talented, but a poor mid.  He wasn't creative and lacked footy smarts. There's also the matter of application. We've already seen how driven Petracca is. 

Why Petracca can't be evaluated on his own merits is beyond me. 

There will always be a "Sylvia" to compare to anyone.  It's a pointless exercise.  We all know nothing is guaranteed.

i think misson would have said the same thing about brayshaw at the same time last year

I spoke to Trenners today as he was running the boundary. He smiled when I mentioned Round One but somehow I suspect that he may come back through the VFL. But who knows for sure?

From what I saw at training today he seemed both match fit and in touch. Expect him a smokey for this Sunday, the following Sunday, Round One of the VFL and then the opening Round of the AFL.

Did you see the tackling drill Trac and Crossy were doing? Trac was a man mountain against poor Crossy, just wrapped him up every time.
