We talk about turnover merchants.

There are those who can be iffy by foot - dropping the ball too short to a player on the lead, too wide or over his head meaning a ball in our possession can end up contested as the opposition has been given a sniff.

Then there are those who constantly pick out opposition players with precision.

 

Terlich unfortunately fits into the second category.

Really? That wasn't my intention. I would have thought both players would have a grievance.. one gets more games than the other but they still both get less then they (arguably) deserve in a bottom 5 side decimated with injuries.

Would either of these two players get selected to play a game in a top four team? Of course not. They are not even VFL standard. Get rid of them ASAP.

Jones effort Terlichs effort cant be questioned , their competitors .

 

jones was ok  decent in games this year geelong comes to mind . 

 

Terlich is a backup we know what he can do . 

 

its good to have older players who lead the way in reserves games and for depth .  But like Ro bail who went ok in games last year and time will run out for both unless improvement comes .

If I'm right in my reading into your posts, I would think that it would be the player that most on here would have guessed it to be without any clues. Not much of a surprise, really, given that the same coach that halted his AFL career the first time around will be the one to call an end to his AFL career at the end of this season (he effectively already has).

Matt Jones. I dislike him but I can kind of live with him. He was crucial in our wins against Geelong and the Dogs. His biggest problem is he comes in and plays well one week doing a job and the next week seemingly can't back it up. Without looking at the games again I think you'll find that was a consistent pattern. His disposal is dreadful but I actually think it's his fumbling and poor tackling that hurts him just as much. He could be ok depth as a role player if he could come in and play defensive forward by tackling and moving the ball on semi reliably.

Terlich. Hmm. He is a complete basketcase at this stage. He is out training much earlier than last year which is positive. No idea why he got a 2 year deal at the end of 2014 though. He's a good tackler and I actually don't mind that he's willing to run the ball out of the backline. We need players willing to do that. Unfortunately his skills just haven't measured up at AFL level. I think he was a reliable kick in his first year who took too many aggressive options in a bad team. Unfortunately I think we've hurt his confidence by foot and not improved his decision making. So now he still makes bad decisions and backs it up with bad kicks. He's a good tackler but a poor one on one defender so can't play close to goal. Any chance that he has to make it probably requires a consistent run of games where he finds his confidence again and even if the turnovers still come through bad options he at least finds his balance with his kicking again.

I think Matt Jones and Jack Grimes will play more games than most Demonlanders. Our outside midfield is a key weakness and any football side needs a balance of ball hunters and receivers. While both their skills are below par, they cover more territory (particularly defensively) than Stretch, Watts, Garlett, Kent, Lumumba etc. Moreover, Cross was playing an outside defensive role and he is gone.

those comments, if true, smack of sour grapes and a bruised ego and are contrary to all the other messages coming out of the club. That players services should be dispensed with straight away rather than have them become a disruptive influence.

Being professional footballers I'd hope they play more games too.

When I go through our list and think who will be delist at the end of 2016 to make room for the next trade/draft period, these two names are at the top of my list.

They were good for us as a bottom 4 team but as we start to fight for a top 8 spot these two guys need to make way for other players who will make our team stronger.

I think it just shows how far out list has come since 2013.. These two were in our top 10-5 players that year.. And are now lucky to be on the list.. The wheels are turning.. Hopefully like they did in 98+ 2 more wins!!

Is Terlich a mate of yours? Jetta is our best small defender by leaps and bounds and Terlich will never play another game for Melbourne. The suggestion that the gap is close is ridiculous, whilst Jetta doesnt provide much run out of the backline his disposal is more often than not effective and has been looking to address this. Jetta or Terlich on any of the small forward in the AFL i know who i would choose. 1 v 1 pound for pound Jetta is almost our best defender.

White would also be ahead of him (Terlich) now along with Bugg if they decide to play him back.

When Jones, Terlich and Grimes are no longer on our list, we'll have an AFL standard list. That'll be at the end of 2016.
