No!

Although he should have been used as trade bait two years prior while coming out of contract and showing potential while Carlton were in the hunt for a tall forward.

Fitzy was just ahead of his time, tunnel ball will catch on.

maybe he should have been a big ruck-rover, block & tunnel ball out the back, whilst stopping the opponents other mids... I bet Clarko is right onto this.

Recruited by Hawthorn under the LOL Melbourne principle - the same reason North took Gysberts and Geelong took Blease. Won't take them long to figure out that he's just not any good.

I understand why people like him though. There aren't many 200+ cm players with athleticism like he has. It makes sense to wait as long as possible for players with those attributes; I think the MFC did just that. Time to move on.

Any reason why they gave a late pick for him when they could have just got him as a delisted free agent?

seems he wasn't actually delisted:

CONFIRMED TRADE Hawthorn have traded pick 94 to Melbourne for Jack Fitzpatrick.

I guess technically he was contracted until October 31st. Good luck to Fitzy and well done to the club for speeding up the process in getting him to Hawthorn.

I guess that our delisting was effective after the Trade period! Brilliant! Same as we did last year when we retained Clark on our list until 31 October, allowing us to get the deal done which landed us HL!

Good on you Fitz!

I wish you all the luck in the world at your new club.

He's defied the odds to get this far into his career and I hope he continues to do so at his new club. To play through what he's had to overcome, and carve a career out through hard work in spite of limited natural ability... Good on him and good luck!

I was a Fitzy fan and thought we should have given him another year. It's interesting that the Hawks have picked him up.

I'm not saying we were wrong in delisting him but it will be interesting to see how he goes at Hawthorn and what they can make of him.

He'll have to get used to winning too.

And that's before draft picks where I hope we take a ruck and key forward at some stage in the draft or rookie draft. No need for Fitzy any more. But he'll kill it at Box Hill and probably get a game at some stage if Ceglar or McEvoy are injured.

Interesting we picked him up from the Hawks in the first place, so they have taken him back. They must see something in him.

Not sure that's right..

From the 08 draft if I remember correctly.

The way we have negotiated these fantastic deals today I'm surprised Hawthorn didn't give us their first rounder and Rioli as a sweetener for Fitzy!

Not bad, but frost when fit will be why too good to waste at Casey

I thought he was on Hawthorns list but had real problems with injuries. They ditched him we recruited him, we ditched him they recruited him.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
