You should use the Ignore feature in your Preferences. I have only one poster - who happens to have posted multiple times in this thread - on Ignore. The feature works a treat as I only feel about 5% dumber.

Clubs will always back their system to get the best out of players. Frawley and Sylvia were free agents, so minimal cost. Other clubs are just being realistic with their assessment of the worth of players like Howe and Watts. Howe will have suitors, but not at his manager's asking price.

The idea is that we want to bring in talent to supplement the small amount of talent we already possess.

It's laughable that you're having a coronary over the idea of trading a B grade 27 year old defender, but are happy to throw up one of our most promising 20 year olds up for trade.

Would we trade Salem for Dangerfield or Fyfe? Yes of course. But realistically that deal will never come off.

We are more likely to do a good deal by trading someone like Watts or Toumpas and getting another promising youngster into the fold.

I would be very surprised if they were thinking of including 'valuable yet expendable assets' in a trade for Melksham.

'Valuable yet expendable assets' this summer would include: ND6, Watts, Howe, and ND27.

Toumpas' value would be very low - he simply hasn't looked comfortable in the AFL outside of a few games. I would re-sign him as he would have little value to salvage in a trade - salvaging something out of his career would be more valuable than ND60 or a deep rotation mid like Melksham.

There is aggressive trading, and then there is trading one of the most promising players on the list who fills a role that no one else can currently fill. His footskills of half back make us look a much better team when is fit and playing.

so he has looked comfortable ? just to green yet. this means he has something, or would flounder, our job is to get that something stronger.

Bailey/Neeld era, hmmn, i don't buy totally... the problems were established well before bailey came anywhere near us, as shown by our inability to develop recruits & to maintain the fierce desire to win, & to work hard,,, the fact that our good senior players weren't elite, they were to lazy to become elite.

we are a lazy club, & this is our default position we continually keep falling back down to, after we've been sorted out... accept-ion ; the in-between times, > from 'checker' to 'smithy', were an imported ethos.

also from Barassi > Northey times... you see, other than these 2 era's. we have been truly 'mellow yellow', in all other years & era, (default).

since those coaches/admins, we just cruised back down to a comfortable, not to painful existence. & this is the level our most talented types seem to tread water at... your TJohnstone's, Yze's, Greens, Whites, Robbo's, all very cosy types, & none would ruffle your hair.

we have to get back to the Whelans, Ox's, Neitz's & even more aggro. your Pikes, & such.

and off field aggro, as well... as this thread hopefully echo's.
