Wow awesome effort Jack Viney!

Misses 6 games and nearly takes out the bluey.. Amazing effort.

Leadership group next year beckons.

1 vote, bloody hell. Phenomenal effort by JV. Mad love for that kid.

Viney missed out by 1 vote!

327 to 328.

Vince is the winner.

The Syd Anderson Memorial Trophy - club champion (second) goes to Jack Viney on 327 votes, one less than the winner.

Well done Bernie, fantastic effort to win a B n F at two different clubs, keep up the great work.

Congratulations to you Jack. To come 2nd after missing over a month with a broken leg is quite remarkable. Tough as nails, the kid has got better and better in his short career. Just thrilled for him.

Also, congratulations to all those who won awards this year

That game against Adelaide set the tone for a great season, well done Bernie.

And well done Bernie boy. Throughly deserved. A Demon through and through.

We've been the laughing stock of the league when it comes to drafting and trading but fair to say we may have done ok with the Sylvia out and Vince in dealings.

Congrats to Bernie! Would have to be Melbourne's best import in many many years.

Fantastic effort by both Bernie and Viney. I think its the best result. Durability is an important part of the game and I want Viney to be hungry enough to go one better next year!

Well done to Bernie and Jack - both played with amazing spirit for the pride of their jumper and are now being recognized on a personal level. Speaks volumes about the type of player we all value. CONGRATS!

Great result! Bernie still probably has a good 3-4 years of footy in him as well.

Well deserved.

And Jack and Jesse will drag this club up the ladder.

Promising signs to see Jack Viney, Tom McDonald and Jesse Hogan in the top 5 - (bit different to seeing Terlich and Jones (M) in top 5 a couple of years ago).

Next year's top 5 predictions:

5) Vince

4) Gawn

3) Brayshaw

2) Hogan

1) Viney

Anyone who beat the No.1 ranked player, Pendles, twice in the one season had to go close. Well deserved Mr. Vince

Very happy with these results. Especially Jack Viney. Misses 6 games and nearly wins the B&F.
Quite an achievement for Bernie as well. It's quite an achievement to win a B&F at two clubs. I hope he can get to 100 games in red and blue.

Next year's top 5 predictions:

5) Vince

4) Gawn

3) Brayshaw

2) Hogan

1) Viney

Tyson will bounce back next year and Salem will be there abouts as well.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
