As I said earlier, it isn't just MFC supporters who can't listen to him, I genuinely think something like this could get legs.

Would be a smart business move for Fox to punt him.

A typical Dwaynepipe call : full of faux excitement , sarcasm towards the underdog and sickening sucking- up to the supporters of the white-hot favourite team .

Russell hates Melbourne. It's a class thing.

Hate Drayne Pussell, he's without doubt the biggest tossbag in the media, absolute douchbag!!!!

This is the 'commentator' who on Sports Today several weeks ago took calls on the subject of eradicating the bounce from the game completely (in favour of throwing the ball up) in order to encourage more female umpires to the game. His logic being that the art of the centre bounce is beyond the strength and coordination of any potential female umpires.

This is the first thread on here to achieve universal agreement for a long time. He is truly awful and he does have a thing about us.

But that doesn't explain how he is pig ignorant as well about Hogan's status...surely he can do SOME research.

The only challenger to Derwane is Basil Z. Utterly incompetent the pair of them. Dermis by comparison is a genius.

Flog.

In a touch of irony that would be lost on Derwayne, it's exactly that kind of moronic comment, indicative of attitude, that would be keeping female umpires out of the game.

My personal favorite was when he said that Port Adelaide would defeat Geelong in the 2007 grand final due to their club culture. How did that work out I wonder?

Wouldn't look too much past it, he's a Geelong man.

Given my username I feel it appropriate that I comment here. When I joined this site I was looking to send up a commentator who had an overblown sense of self-importance. That was way back then... I rest my case!

Clearly, and by a country mile, the most;

Punchable

Kickable

Kneeable

Elbowable

Hip n shoulderable merchant banker and oxygen thief I know.

He was coach of the Colac Tigers many years ago and royally fugged the club over.

Makes you wonder how Pelicans like him have made it to where they are.

Then again, Crocmedia is more proof of how poor the industry is.

used to listen to Sports Today most nights, until the horrible murder of Hookesy, then they go and replace him with someone who was the antithesis of Hookes. I sent an email complaining, they sent an email back saying give him a go, he will be good. I haven't listened since!! HATE THE PUSSELL!!

I actually didn't know he could write....have never seen an article but wouldn't read it anyway.

But surely he isn't as bad a writer as Robbo? Surely not!

PS Imagine the agony were he and Robbo to commentate a game together :-(((..

I used to drive home from work listening to Hooksey and Gerard - loved the show. It has gone into a gradual decline since DW came in. He is sexist pig as well as everything listed above.

Phew!! For a moment there, I thought you were him...!

Was looking forward to reading his response to all the love notes on this thread! LOL

It's funny when commentators use words they've heard someone else say, and they think it makes them sound clever, but they don't really know what it means. He claims Melbourne aren't 'relevant' and compares us unfavourably with the doggies. I suppose that's why we've got more members than the doggies and get bigger crowds. It's probably time to get your ghost-writer to jump on google thesauraus Dwayne.

Local church should be able to help out in that department.

What's in it for the media? You're/we're going to watch whether they have Dwayne or not. They could have the footy equivalent of John Arlott and you'd watch it. But they're not going to sell more advertising even with John Arlott.

In other words ... think of the money they save.

It's up to individual commentators to apply themselves and improve, whether out of professional pride or simply trying to climb the greasy pole. But they seem to lapse into complacency and mediocrity. And there is no consequence for doing so.
