Majority, my dear old dee, majority.

I'm addicted to the club.

And I enjoy discussing the club and reading about it.

The informed, considered and intelligent opinions make it worth wading through the drivel.

But it is a question I ask myself frequently.

The answer seems to be that the club brings me hope and joy, outside my normal life.

I get precious little of that from fellow supporters, because they're all so bloody miserable.

Fair enough

we seem to be just giving you so much pain I wondered why you hang in there.

Once again, it's the supporters, not the club.

If you could have one without the other I'd be happier.

The majority of responses on this thread epitomise the negative cloud that engulfs many of our supporters.

The rush to email Roos et al after the loss was absolutely pathetic & moronic.

"I wonder why?"

I'll tell you why - BECAUSE YOU'RE F*****G WEAK.

Weak minded individuals, that majority of us.

It might be unpalatable, but it's true.

Have some bloody backbone and stop falling apart with every disappointment.

I know a good few Melbourne supporters, but I prefer to sit alone at the footy cos they're bloody insufferable.

I have every right to be negative when the players play as they have the last few weeks.

I emailed Roos because I thought the supporters needed an explanation.

WEAK!... When does a weak minded individual talk rationally to someone about a problem as I did to Roos?

Backbone is to raise a problem when it is there, not to accept it and put up with sub standard performance.

Sorry sir, there may be other reasons you sit alone at the footy.

Roos slammed that conversation into reverse gear at 100 miles per hour. Talk about back peddling.

He said it was the "whole club, everybody". Now it's supposedly just the fans.

Sorry, Paul. I'm not buying it.

100% agree. His comments were unequivocal. The whole club is the whole club. I'm a big fan of Roos and Jackson but they've both stuffed up here. Now there will have to be another back peddle from Jackson. We almost got to the end of the season without a major drama and now this. I heard a lot of KB today and he was merciless in his parody about it all being the fans fault.

I went to a pre game function against the Roos and Daniel McPherson banged on about how important positive starts were and that it was something we were really focused on getting right. We then go out and don't turn up 'till the second quarter. The following two weeks we don't turn up to half time! Yes its the players responsibility to 'turn up' but jeez it's also the coaching staff's responsibility to ensure they do.

KB said in the last 3 weeks we have kicked 3 first quarter goals and the opposition has kicked 21. Two goals to half time against the blues and dogs. You have to be joking. A veil of negativity? You bet.

Just disgraceful.

We the fans have been negative for many years now and with reason.

But we just got pantsed by the bottom team. Not wrestled into submission like in the Dons game, but pantsed.

If that was due to fans' negativity, then we would never win any game.

If fans' negativity was holding the team back then we could not possibly have won against Geelong on their home patch. (We all know how hard it is to do that.)

It doesn't add up.

Correct. But I've heard Roos say the same thing on 360 this week. No argument there.

I will not tolerate insipid performance and you find that pathetic.

We are all answerable for our own performance. If you accept it you are part of the problem.

Edit:

What do you stand for Mach5?

Do you accept the MFC performance over the last few weeks?

Is it the fans fault?

Do we have the right to be disappointed?

Do we have the right to expect better?

I am a paid up member of the MFC and have been for many years, does that entitle me to an opinion on how the club performs?

You don't even make sense WYL.

You're unintentional comedy at the best of times.

This isn't one of those.

Comedy is not what i was thinking

You have no right to take Pot Shots at any MFC Supporter

Many have invested $1000's to sit and watch that garbage last sunday

What should be entertainment is killing the human spirit

How about this - Watts is lambasted from all sides to 'pull his finger out'. He finally looks to be doing it and we still have people sitting there telling him he needs to be traded or delisted whenever we have a bad loss - ironically when he was one of our best on the weekend this was the case.

We are a resilient bunch but don't tell me Landers and Melbourne fans haven't been affected by the last decade - we have developed some pathetic habits when it comes to how we see this club.

There is an overtly positive poster on here who names himself The Reverend after being touted as so positive that it stuck out amidst the gloom.

Does that not tell you something about the mindset of this place - this little snap shot of MFC supporters?

Positivity is so rare - it is met with mirth and eye rolls and dismissiveness.

Im a Melbourne supporter based in Sydney

Also im a Foundation Hero member

I gave $7k to the club

I was only a low paid worker that now is long term unemployed

I got sucked in by the club on this Hope .

Maybe Roosy is right

im scarred by Stynes , Mcleady , Schwab & Connelly

These people didn't employee the right and the civil war exploded , until the AFL stepped in

As Todd Viney said on OPEN MIKE recently , the football department was dysfunctional

It will take 2 or 3 more years to turn this thing around

Roos screwed up on Monday night - he lost his nerve under some tricky questions, he's only human.

The fact is the numbers don't lie......we are progressing, and the trend is up - but for some poor goal kicking, and a brain fade in the Saints game, we would be 8 wins, and pushing for 9 for the year.

The players have failed the club the last 2 weeks, and undone a lot of good work done during the season - that's where the focus should be.

Jackson, Roos and co need to hold their nerve, and keep focussed on the process as Roos said on Monday - unfortunately he has given the media a chance to kick him and the club again, and with the Hird story now dead, they are only too happy to oblige.

Come on, people, positive thoughts!

Melbourne will beat Freo by 200 points on the weekend.

Jesse Hogan to kick 20 goals, before being chaired off the ground by surprise guests Allen Jakovich and Liam Jurrah.

Would be bigger than Fine Cotton

rpfc, I have been positive about several players regularly pilloried here including Watts & Fitzpatrick. I have been positive about P Jackson and P Roos. I have been positive about our recruiting the last few years, damn I even though Lucas Cook would make it.

By nature I am a positive person, but when I see a real problem I identify it, and talk about ways of fixing it. I do not ignore problems. The MFC has problems, the supporters are not the problem.

The coach told us we were negative, perhaps he used a voltmeter.Recommend that supporters take positively charged ions ( some may refer to protons ) to combat the negatively then will become neutral ( who gives a [censored]). I adore Barletts statement were on track, what

to another re-build. I havn't heard anything about what is coach going to do to fix the problem,I forgot we don't have one.The negativety is coming out again. Funny thing most supporters ( exclude colin syvlia lovers) knew at the start of the year that Watts,Dawes,Dunn

and Howe (give or take one or four others) are not up to scratch and they will never be.Yet the coach does not seem to drop them and to use the excuse we don't have descent replacements may be true, neverless dropping them may be the catalyst the club needs.

This so-called combination Gawn,Jones and Vince should be broken up.Gawn tires and cannot see a full game out or lacks experience.Jones and or Vince are tagged out of the game.Nat being the captain can't be made to look stupid on the field because the opposition

are too smart for us and they know to beat the demons just tag Nat all day. He needs to play elsewhere, forward most likely.Going back to my so called awesome(awful) foursome, there are worst players but these one's have a great deal of experience and need to be held accountable. Why should the reserves get critiqued for their performances when the seniors don't,where is the fairness in that?Perhaps there is justification to get rid of players!!! I wish Peter Jackson would do something about the The Melbourne Football club website,it is "mushy".Round 22 potential sackees( I know no such word) McKenzie,Bail,Grimes,Cross,Riley,Minchie,Jamar,Spencer,Terlich,M.Jones,Howe,Watts,Dawes………….. more negativety again, can't help myself.

That would be too easy OD.

If you wish to truly atone, I think you should fly to Perth, knock on Jamie Bennell's front door and tell him that you forgive him

And have it videoed and put on YouTube for the rest of us to enjoy

That sort of support is not the problem, it is the overt over the top absolute negativity that has no basis in fact or reason that is the problem. As rpfc pointed out, people still blame Watts and thing he should be gone, even though he is now doing what we wanted him to do, and some are calling for blood. We are too negative, we are too reactionary, we don't take time to consider what is going on, and we take it out on all and sundry, it would be having an effect, even if small.

No dc you have sheeted home where the responsibility lies.

I have accepted your point.

Now all that is necessary is the time, place and courage.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
