Call it a lucky guess.

Perhaps we don't all see the world in a binary left - right paradigm. A paradigm that completely fails to take into account the modern political reality of centrist labor and Democratic governments. But by all means carry on with an out dated world view.

So this just means Cafe owners, Restaurants and Butchers IN THE SUBURBS & COUNTRY will have a great day whilst the City Business' have a 4 day week

And me as a punter pays $5 for a coffee rather than $4

What's the big deal?

This thread has been a great expose on solidifying some long held views on certain Demonlanders. Explains a lot.

Oh Stuie... that's just embarrassing.

Try, please, to be something more than just smugly superior all the bloody time.

Was a pretty vague statement I made "Little Goffy", so you can choose to take it however you want. Your first reaction does say a lot though...

Like so much of your [censored] Stu!

Right on cue, here comes the shadow.... It's nice to have fans, thanks for making it all worthwhile xxx

Small business will make a killing when the white shoe brigade roll in from Perth.

Cafe owners never pay staff properly anyway.

The only losers are big business tied to awards.

$35 per hour is approaching a living wage-for one day only.

The costs will be defrayed by the extra demand for food, booze, hotels, services.

You could always fly in 457 workers for the day perhaps or we could get Gina Rhinehart to give everyone a pep talk so they work faster?

Wow. The ignorance in this post is breathtaking.

Has it been confirmed as yet? I didn't think it had been.

Yes, it was confirmed by the State Government yesterday. Here's the Media Release...

and

No. Given that the process required a Regulatory Impact Statement, the creation of the public holiday must have been via the making of a Regulation. In theory Parliament's Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee, otherwise known as SARC, could strike down the regulation. However, that's just a power that SARC has but never actually uses. If enough people complained about it and if the opposition parties had the numbers on SARC, then maybe it would be struck down. But don't hold your breath.

Ol' Danny boy has painted himself into a corner. He made an election promise about this holiday, and if he goes and breaks an election promise then he can't throw darts at the feds for doing that. Not to mention opening himself up to attacks from the former Minister for No Planning. Dan's walking a fine line as he doesn't have a lot of political capital to play with. Will this holiday grow it or spend it? Everyone in politics is waiting and watching to see which way the wind ends up blowing.

What does it say, Stuie?

Does it say "Ahhh, here's someone I can make vague, passive-aggressive condescending comments about"?

Speaking of 'what does it say'... if I went through the list of your posts, what portion would be actual opinions or insights and what portion would be this kind of tedious baiting and condescension?

What does it say about you that all you say is 'what does it say about you'?

Ok, so you're a left-leaning centrist. Bully for you.

And you don't need to engage me in direct conversation, as you've always tended to. Keep walking.

If people want to complain about it and challenge it through an established legal process, they'd better move fast before the 'anti-sabotage' laws come in. Or will those only apply at a Commonwealth level?

I say this as a lover of due process, transparency and all that, rather than any particular desired outcome.

As for the bunkum holiday, as much as it is irritating, it is far from the greatest alarm in the world. Surchage-on-a-teacup kind of thing.

Binman, politics is really very simple. In the end you can tell everything there is to know about someone based on which Jones they like; Alan or Tony.

Choose your favourite windbag - the huff-and-puff or the seeping, low fizz.

Although, even in this post there are nuances. I'm now permanently branded a chardonnay-sipping-socialist and/or bourgeois toff because of that semi-colon I used.

Pure comedy gold. I assume the irony is unintentional but if not well played.

Oh and you have no clue where I sit on the political spectrum. Though it is clearly important for you to be able to pigeon hole people. Perhaps it helps you to understand the world.

If its all the same to you, when I feel like commenting on one of your posts i will. Don't feel the need to reply though. That would feel too much like a conversation

So basically your response is to make another post about me talking about me not talking about football...

Then your next point is to basically go with "I know you are but what am I".

It is a stupid idea and should be canned. There is no disgrace in saying "Look, I thought it was a good idea, I misjudged, it isn't practical, and business will resume as normal".

Or perhaps you could be wrong? Ever entertain that proposition "KingDingAling"?

FMD Stu, that is a meaningless post even by your low standards.

It's certainly not a proposition you entertain very often Stu!

You're taking yourself way too seriously.

I'm sure you won't be offended if I say I couldn't give a rat's toss bag where you are on the "political spectrum". And if I pigeon holed you please accept my heartfelt apologies.

Yours sincerely,

ProDee
