Another MFC affordable night out.

Where would you like to have it? McDonald's?

It costs what it costs.

I don't eat fast food.

$250 pp is not exactly reaching out to your supporter base. They always bang on about engaging the supporter group but that sort of flat cost excludes the majority.

Maybe they should look at some tables at a cheaper cost for those less affluent supporters.

rge raffle tickets are $200 FFS

I don't mind lashing out. Everything is covered and it's a good vibe.

Gorgoroth's suggestion of a budget option is not a bad idea though. One year I went it was at Melbourne Town Hall and there was a budget ticket which gave entry but no meal, and (possibly) drinks at bar prices. The budget tickets weren't on the main floor, but in the balconies above. It would depend on the venue if it could be done again.

Seriously

It costs around $60-70m a year to run a club. They don't make profits (well maybe a small accounting profit). Stop whining. Its really easy to take pot shots but a lot harder to be pro-active. Make a suggestion. Be part of the solution if you think there is a problem. Contact the club and offer them your event organising skills. The night sells out so clearly many think it is a good night.

You clearly have never organised such a large event (and not many have) but if you have ever organised a function like this you would know that you can't do anything with large numbers like that for under $200 a head. $250 a head is about right.

What sort of alternative would you suggest? A BBQ at the G? I'd be really interested in your alternatives to 'reach out to supporters' whatever that means.

A BBQ at the G? I'd be in that, sounds like a great idea.

Me too! BBQ at the G sounds awesome.

Jnr, I appreciate the club has certain ways to make money etc and costs of events.

No I've not run a dinner, but have run events for 60 odd people from around Oz and NZ over a weekend. So I do have some idea.

Pity it is at Crown

I try to avoid that cesspool of evil

This city has changed a lot because that piece of junk has been built...

So you are not a gambler Sir WYL

I'll have between 3-7 drinks per year. Maybe a wine with a meal, or a whiskey cod it's delicious or the occasional port with a cigar, alcohol would prob make the loses even harder to deal with.

Biffen, on a thirsty day would have that many for breakfast.

I , on the other hand who understands restraint, would get to my seventh around lunchtime.

I always picked you as a "restraining" type...
