Changes next week vs The Bears

I know we're all meant to hate Howe because he's leaving at the end of the year, and is playing crap.... but surely he won't get suspended for THAT? It was a tackle. One motion. The guy hit his head. Bad luck. Clearly different to the Gibbs one.

Agree - also his arms weren't pinned

Only Melbourne supporters could be broken enough to want their own players suspended just to see them out of the team.

In a team full of peahearts, keeping the biggest peaheart of all just to maintain currency seems a wildly shortsighted decision in the midst of a "cultural overhaul."

Ultimately there is little pressure on Roos because he has the money in the bag and an end date in sight. He won't be sacked.

There doesn't appear to be fire in his belly the way there was when he coached the Swans.

Actually whilst Roos has good credentials you make a good point. He is on a squillion dollars and money in the bank. No doubt he is trying his best with a rabid losing club, however we are all fed up and sick of losing games.

If we cannot drag ourselves out of the bottom 4 this year, the club can go looking for others to pay their bills. I've forked out thousands over 3 decades and patience is defiantly at the crossroads.

I've been a member for similar amount of time, and am starting to feel the same way. Then I go back and look at the Robbie Flower tribute and think, oh well, it's only a couple of hundred and I'm kind of hooked on this club, alas...

Bloody wish my dad had barracked for Hawthorn but.

If they had kicked 18-7. What would this thread be saying?

If they'd kicked 18.7 we wouldn't be home yet.

That's like saying, "if we were 14 wins and 0 losses, you'd all be calling Roosy a genius!"

same pressure that is on every player and coach. the desire to win. Roos is doing what he can, execution is up to the players on the field. whether he let a spare hang around in the backline is not the issue its the score on the board, we had more than enough chances to win this game but failed to execute even basic things. We had too many players who could not kick straight, who did not run, chase, tackle or show any great desire. Roos cares and Roos wants to win, not sure some of our players are so dedicated though.

Yet they keep being gifted games by Roos...

I've been a strong supporter of PR but his deficiencies as match day coach are glaring.

OUT: lumumba, garland, anb, sos

IN: fitzpatrick, grimes, two of newton / toumpas / michie, depending on the casey game tomorrow

quite frankly you could drop cross and howe too. the latter might go for suspension, so one of garland or lumumba might survive.

B: Jetta - Fitzpatrick - Dunn

HB: Grimes - T McDonald - Howe

C: Tyson - N Jones - vandenBerg

HF: Watts - Dawes - Brayshaw

F: JKH - Hogan - Garlett

Foll: Gawn - Vince - Viney

I/C: Toumpas - Newton - Cross

Sub: Harmes

Emerg: ANB - SOS - Jamar

Fitzy in for Garland?

It's a pity they don't give out Supercoach points for falcons.

as per another post in a different thread - lumumba, grimes, garland, cross, howe (when playing defensively) and potentially even dunn all play the 'third' tall role. we can't have them all in the team at the same time, as other than lumumba and occasionally grimes and howe, none provide any rebound whasoever. when he gets it, garland sits on it. when he gets it, lumumba turns it over.

if fitz has another good game as a defender next week, there's no reason why he shouldn't be an automatic in. it'll allow dunn / t-mac to play less on a giant and more on someone their own size.

Just mean that more senior heads may have helped. Jamar almost should've been rewarded for good form. If he does well tomorrow I would hope he's back in the ones next week.

Now you are talking out of your rear.

Gawn is dominating and Jamar is still doing the run in and no jump thing.

Forget it.

Keep playing the kids

Might as well now - we can't really get any more disappointing

Mate every game is a danger game.

We could be playing Northern Saints in the EDFL and it would still be a danger.

For context:

13/6/15

Greenvale: 48.17 - 305

Northern Saints: 1.6 - 12

Changes aren't relevant this week, just kick straight

Although Howe must go. Ridiculous he keeps getting gifted games and it is making Roos look inept in his decision making.

... we were clearly short a few experienced consistent players.

And who may they be, prey tell? Bail? McKenzie? Matt Jones?

You've hit the nail on the head though - we just do not have nearly enough experienced, consistent players.

I'd bring Grimes in, he's at least experienced, and then, if he has another decent game at Casey, Fitzpatrick. Hard to see any other changes doing more than just shuffling the deck chairs until the likes of Salem and Kent can return.

Grimes has to come in. Was in very good form pre injury. Probably drop Stretch and play Grimes as a defensive forward on Hanley if he runs off half back. Would not be upset to see Howe dropped for Fitz.

If they had kicked 18-7. What would this thread be saying?

Nice win.

Nice straight kicking by Greenvale!

Edited by jumbo returns

Garland won't be dropped nor should he be. I would much prefer to drop Dawes and bring in Fitz whose versatility to play ruck, back or forward would be handy.

These are my wild and irrelevant requests.

OUT: Dawes or McDonald, Stretch, ANB, Harmes

IN: Fitzpatrick, Newton, Grimes, Michie

Play Fitzpatrick back and play whoever remains of Dawes and McDonald forward (preferably McDonald).

There were a couple too many youngsters today. I am impatient and want to win games of footy right now. All of those 3 listed have a future, and they will work there way back into the team when ready. The experienced bodies replacing them (Grimes, Newton, Michie) all have a chance, unlike the likes of Bail, McKenzie or M.Jones.

Although, perhaps Harmes can have another week as sub and Michie stays out.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
