Says a lot about a player if Roos brings him straight back into the seniors after 4-5 wks being injured.

Or our depth

Good changes

Super happy to get some more quality on the half forward line with JHK- will make a great change up from M Jones!

Hoping I'll stop being sick long enough to brave the weather and go to the match

Perhaps i've got a touch of MFCSS but I'm feeling very uneasy about this weekend.

Harmes 0 games

Neal-Bullen 3 games

Stretch 5 games

Vandenberg 10 games

Hogan 11 games

Brayshaw 13 games

That's a lot of inexperienced players, albeit a some very good ones in there. Given the predicted weather conditions, I can't help but think a selection of Grimes/Newton/Riley/Michie may have been a wise inclusion at the expense of one or a couple of the younger guys.

Is this because of the mass of games experience Newton, Riley and Michie bring?

Vandenberg Hogan & Brayshaw play like 100 gamers

I love the arrogance of bringing a first gamer and a bloke coming back from injury through Essendon.

It just better not backfire.

All bring 4+ pre-seasons/hardened bodies that in my opinion would be better suited to wet weather footy than a lighter body in their first season with limted preperation. Apologies, I didn't articulate my thoughts properly.

Not a hater but i guess we will never see Bail again, good luck i liked him, gave his all just wasn't good enough.

Jones will be back, may not be this year thou, been ok in my opinion, paying the price for the chest mark as is Fittzy for tunnel ball.

Great selections!

My tip either Vandenberg or Harmes will be the sub.

Harmes is my tip. They have done this will all our debutants, haven't they?

Yeah . . . he's our only small emergency this week.

I know Toumpas is a slow developer sadly....but he at least gives effort. The same thing can't be said for Howe!!!!

Why is Howe still being gifted games? Makes me angry that this half rsed one trick pony gets a game before many others who are deserving.

I don't read it that way. We need fresh legs and this is still a spotlight Saturday MCG game, so it'll be a good test for Harmes and Vanders is an important cog, particularly in the wet.

Not really actually.

Vandenberg is yet to start as a sub, Stretch played a full game in his 1st game as did ANB.

I reckon Vanders will be our sub.

Would be shocked if one of Stretch, ANB or Harmes aren't sub.

Vanders will be the most likely candidate to be subbed off if his match fitness isn't up to scratch, but frankly he can just hang around in the forward line all game and crash and bash for Garlett/JKH.

I stand corrected then.

I'd like to think if Howe was dropped this week, I'd have been big enough to not have posted a 'told you so' effort.

Roos rates him and obviously thinks he can work on his deficiencies. He has shown equal amounts of faith in Watts and the rewards over the past 4 games have been pleasing.

Maybe Howe will start in the ruck to showcase his versatility and further enhance his trade value . . . .

Three words "increase trade value".

Although on current form it may do the opposite!

Exactly what I was thinking, although my guess is he will be the sub.

Hope he isn't the sub we need his big body on the field from the get go. Harmes I would think will be.

Looks like the match will start in 20k + winds and heavy rain......

THE most powerful cold front to cross Australia’s southeast in years will hit this weekend with forecasters warning of freezing conditions.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
