I'm a great believer in the old footy adage about taking things one week at a time. In a sense it's a pity that the momentum of our win at Geelong has been stalled by the bye but, on the other hand, it's probably good for us supporters to come down from the euphoria of seeing a four quarter effort from the side in which they resisted a number of fightbacks from a reasonably good AFL team on hostile territory.

It's been a good week and nothing that happens on the weekend can do much to change that.

The last time we had a win, we celebrated too hard and came crashing down afterwards. Maybe a bye is a good thing for us because it will give us some time to decompress and get back to normal.

I think it is great that we happen to have the bye after that huge victory. It gives the coaches time to instill their achievement into them for another week, build some of that belief. If we had WC straight up and lost badly there is the danger of all that good feeling evaporating quickly. Don't worry, Roos will be using this to his advantage.

My gut is telling me the timing is perfect. A short break for the players to refresh (both physically and mentally), and time for the coaching staff to make sure that the players 'come back to earth' but take some measured confidence and belief out of a great win, are absolute positives imo. Travelling to Darwin as a group won't do any harm either. Add to this that we will be playing the Weagles on a ground and in conditions that won't be familiar to them, and I reckon that the contest will be a lot closer than the respective ladder positions might suggest. Maybe we might even win, and really start to turn some heads in the wider competition.

With a bit of luck we could actually go up one or two spots on the ladder without playing this week! If Bulldogs can do over the saints by enough for themto lose 2% or so we go up one. If the hawks can absolutely demolish essendrug by enough to lose 9% we go up one spot.

I'm a huge pigdog fan.. you'd hate to gather a ball on the edge of the stoppage and realise he's the nearest player to you.. ouch
