MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 11

We will certainly need fitzy next week against the Blitz show at Geelong, lucky Stanley is out, hopefully Mitch not back.

I like the team this week but it is also very young and inexperienced. Brayshaw, Stretch, Toumpas, ANB, Michie all very young in their careers.

The Hulk and Viney as well. The hulk is very green

I'm worried about the Dunn on Bruce matchup.

I'd hate for the game to be decided purely on Bruce kicking 6+ because we've got nobody to play on him.

Dunn should be playing on the oppo's 3rd or 4th fwd not No 1 or 2.

This is where the loss of Frawley will occasionally rear its head (although still rather Brayshaw than Frawley)

Riewoldt kicked 9 against us at the MCG one year, and we beat them by 50+ if I remember it right. A balanced team goes ok, even if there is a winner on the other side.

Disagree.

He is very versatile, being so tall and quick. Yes he is no champion but he can still improve. He can play ruck, forward or back and can snag a goal. If played forward, he is actually not an easy match up for opposing teams.

We have several others who will go before him.

Absolutely agree Mr Red

surprised no one cares about this big out...

Nobody has even mentioned the Billings out either besides me

Maybe everyones too scared to jinx us.. god knows we have played teams with big outs plenty of times and still lost

Schneider is a bigger loss for the saints.

Nothing to do with a jinx. 20 in a row says it all

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I saw this on Saintsational. It refers to a Robbo article which describes what he saw and heard at a St. Kilda planning session.

A lot of interesting points about how Melbourne plays and strategies the Saints have noted that we have used.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
