I should add, Fitzpatrick's mistake was embarrassing, but it happened because Gawn tried to mark the ball on the line instead of punching it through.

How many goals have we given up on the goal line this year, mainly because our ruckmen aren't trained to kill the contest? Fitzpatrick never should have had to have his panic moment.

I was a big supporter of Watts, spoke to shifter Sheehan before we drafted him, said he was going to be a gun, unfortunately, I believe he is too soft and will amount to nothing as a Melbourne player, sorry to say so, be we will better off when he is traded. His game today was soft, I've had enough.

Really liked his intensity and possesions put to advantage! Something we sorely don't have enough of!

I am a Watts fan a bit, but I get frustrated with him sometimes. Great tackle on Varcoe . However I do not think the players use him well enough as a transition player ( Watson said at one stage " Watts is available, should use him" What did we do go across the other way . Brayshaw is better than Hogan (and I think Hogan is terrific) BOTH FIRST YEAR PLAYERS.

A lot of posts have said Oxley should have benn manned, however we should have put the ball into decision makers hands to take it into the Fwd 50. i.e., Watts, Bayshaw ( Galett (2) Fitzpatrick Goals) and Toumpas once he gains more confidence.

Maxy Gawn provided a genuine TALL MOBILE ruckman today ( Jamar was good until he shrunk) and give him credit , he has not played at this level all year.

JAck V wins hard ball and I think his disposal is improving ( will check stats)

ANd we have the No 2 draft pick up our sleeve, putting some bulk on.

Tmac fought back really well after sh...h...e start. Frm match reports we have Omac showing promise ( and heart)

Sorry, I should have mentioned Brayshaw's game. Vince, Jones and Cross were good and Viney was important (even though his disposal efficiency must be about 10%), but Brayshaw. Wow. He just makes the right decisions 9 times out of 10. His kicking on both sides has improved and he nearly always kicks to advantage of his team mate. He had about 3 goal involvements in a row in the second term. He seems to have so much more time and composure than anybody else out there. He's very exciting.

One aspect of the game that I thought Roos did stuff up was the SUB selection. Matt Jones is at best a negative run with player. The Sub needs to be able to take the game on and create. The loss of Vandenberg cost us dearly and M Jones unfortunately added nothing.

it was 10 goals actually, and i'm not joking.

Yeah, you're always going to have turnovers. They are the main scoring avenue of most teams, however, it's those 4 or 5 really bad ones that hurt you.

I agree our forwards did seem to get shoved out of the contests quite a lot and a couple of occasions Collingwood players took uncontested marks because no one bothered to go with them. it would also help if players kicking into the forward line kicked to our players advantage a little more. brayshaw was one of the few constantly doing that.

Viney in the middle made a big impact today and should just be better from here on in. His bump was a gooden. Although I thought he hurt his nuts a bit doing it.

Made it a lot easier for Jones to get effective clearances.

Vanders going off just could have been the difference to making a really close game.

Next half a dozen games hopefully brings wins and purpose. We're just warming up!!!
