Thought id start a thread on something i received today. An old high school friend of mine just started a digital media job at AFL house, sent me an email saying that the word going around strongly is that we along with St Kilda are two clubs pushing really hard for his signature at the end of the year. Roosy and Goodwin are massive fans of him and rate his leadership highly. The signs are that its a possible chance that he might return home as his GF is starting a new job in Melbourne aswell.

The Simon Goodwin factor could be huge in this.

Watch this space.

Would both Sloane AND Dangerfield leave... ? I'm pretty sure one will go but I don't think the Crows would allow both to leave. With Thompson's impending retirement it would leave a major hole in their midfield.

But I wouldn't say no mind you, he would be a terrific get for the club.

Friend of mine at the start of the year said Sloane will be going to St Kilda before ANY of this news came to the surface. I didn't believe him until now.

Would you swap our first pick (let's say for argument's sake that it's pick 5) for Sloane?

26 years old at the start of 2016.

I would.

In a heartbeat. We have enough kids.

Definitely

Adelaide would want more though.

My favourite player along side Fyfe outside melbourne. Would be a dream if we could get Sloane at the Dees

Erroneous.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-26/the-next-crop-of-free-agents

The Crows are also going to have to find enough salary cap room to keep other prospective free agents such as Richard Douglas satisfied, along with star midfielder Rory Sloane, who comes out of contract in 2015 but is one year shy of qualifying for free agency.

Could have had him for a draft pick years ago, he trained with us and we promised him we'd take him and then didn't last minute (I forget who we went with instead). We are lucky he is even taking our calls.

We could have had many top players as draft pics Song but hey what can we do now.

It still grates me but it's looking better the recruitment that is now thank god.

The Ox just said Sloane to saints and take that to the bank.

Interesting.

Why the F would Sloane want to go to St Kilda?

Not a Free Agent yet I thought, but falls into it next year (2016). So this would be the year where Adelaide make their call whether they risk losing for standard FA compo next year or get full value this year through a trade. Would love to see aggressive plays made on the trade table. Obviously our first round pick comes into play, then toss in a Toumpas and even then maybe juggle later round picks to favour them? That said, all our trade power means nothing if we as a club simply cannot entice him to want to join in.

Where is all this Sloane chat coming from by the way? I know there's been this call of saints on SEN this week, but wasn't it just a month or two ago Sloane was writing articles on being a one club player and hoping Danger stays with him in Adelaide etc?

Because they've got a better young midfield than us....we have the bookends Hogan and TMac, but the Saints showed last week why they are developing nicely. Those decisions to trade/let go McEvoy, Dal Santo and Goddard have paid off.

Wasn't that Rockliff... ?

That was our nightmare draft. Watts, Blease and Strauss ahead of names like Hannebery, Beams, Sloane, Motlop... to name a few

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
