Two possible injury forced changes this week

Dean Kent (hamstring) looking at a long stint on the side line. I think Ro Bail or matt jones pending VFL form may be called on to fill that half forward spot

Nev Jetta (concussion) may also miss if Paul Roos pres conference is anything to go by, likely replacement would be former skipper Jack Grimes

Anyone else likely to get a look in?

Its a great shame for the injured boys but what a lesson for the boys at Casey that if you keep working hard opportunities present themselves. Lets see who continues to put their hand up this weekend.

Grimes in for Jetta is pretty straightforward.

Either Toump or Bail in for Kent, whoever shows the better form.

Grimes and Toump in.

I fear Bail and MJones would cause me to pull out what little hair I have left.

Outs:

Jetta, Kent

Ins: (depending on game)

Grimes

Bail/Toump

I think some forget that Bail can play and proved himself last year. Is hard at the contest, has a big tank, can tackle and can play forward/mid role. He also gives us speed and spread which we need given that we have a slow inside midfield. Would replace Kent.

Grimes for Jetta - bit of a loss there but hopefully only for a week.

Toump is another possibility although I would like to see him build consistent form and confidence at Casey.

I seriously doubt we will go in against Fremantle without an actual second ruckman. Spot there for Gawn if he performs tomorrow. Grimes likely for Jetta (who Roos said wont play next week) I would think.

May have to think about Gawn against Sandy and Clarke

Or we back jamar to take them both on and play a small instead and hope that gives us an advantage (only need Dawes to nullify Clark..

That's what I was thinking - our team structure was perfect this week (don't want to ruin that spread and speed)

If we want to win this one we will need to take some risks.

Pedo could also potentially come in for Watts as well (I want to show faith in Watts but at least you know what Pedo will deliver)

I see Grimes coming in for Jetta if he doesn't get up for this week! And purely because we are playing fremantle I see either Gawn or Pedersen cominh in to give Jamar a chop out!

Purely based on rucking ability and size I'd see Gawn coming in, hopefully he kicks a bag against Footscray so he comes in on fire.

In: Bail, Grimes

Out: Kent, Jetta (I hope he is right to go)

Ro Bail will be playing for his football life. His one job will be to apply extraordinary defensive pressure in the forward line. Anything else is a bonus.

If Jetta is to miss one week for concussion why does has Grimes have to replace him? Why can't Bail play that "role" for a week.

You want Bail with the footy in his hands in our defensive fifty????

Toumpas had been playing half back so could be an option to replace jetta.

I agree that bail is the front runner for Kents spot, with Jones an outside chance.

Match ups are separate and i wouldn't be surprised to see pedo come in for Kent instead. Would still give us something around the ground (unlike Spencer) and provide back up ruck.

It has to be Grimes for Jetta. Can't have a stop-gap small defender to try to stop Ballantyne & Walters.

Gawn may need to come in for Watts. I'd like to throw Gawn in against Sandi & see how he goes. If he can hold his own, Jamar could be too strong for Clarke. If Gawn gets smashed, we just swap him & Jamar. At some stage we need to get info about whether either Gawn or Spencer are capable of taking the next step, or whether they'll continue to just star for Casey.

Rather it in his than Grimes, Toump is another option. I would have thought Bail was quicker than Grimes, if he were to be selected it would be as a lock down defender not as the go to man.

And what do you think Jetta's role is?

jetta to swap with toumpas at half back, and possibly even grimes to play as a defensive small forward in a similar role to the one Kent plays.

When has Grimes ever played at any level as a defensive small forward? If we dont go with a ruck/forward to replace Kent it will be someone who plays the same role in Bail or another runner.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
