Not sure but some days it is evident. I think it may be related to a consistent lack of follow-through, but his field kicking is doing just fine at the moment so it is all a conundrum, of sorts. His scoring rate is great, too.

I think he's fixed this somewhat he's kicked goals from 50 recently. But any issue would be because he doesn't get full extension of the leg (ie his knee is bent)

Yeah I remember him comment on the podcast maybe that he's not a very long kick. You don't see him kick from 50m often.

Hopefully something that he can work on now that he seems to have his action more consistent.

How will 80 rank among our major goalkickers since the golden age of FFs?

Neita kicked 82-ish when he won the Coleman...

Holy smokes just looked... Going backwards from 2017...

42, 41, 44, 20, 28, 29, 40, 55, 29, 26, 42, 68, 73, 69, 65 and in 2002 Neitz won it with 82. Best before that was Bennett with 87 in 1990... then before that no-one has kicked more than 80 other than Fanning in 1947 (97), and 1944 (87)... and Norm 3 times in the 40s.

Blimey.

Yeah, he actually won with 75 and kicked more in finals.

Robbo kicked 69 in 2005 and didn't get AA. Phil Matera kicked 7 goals less and got in around 4 talls and Riccuitto was shoehorned into the forward line...smh.

I spent 8 weeks walking around the Perth CBD for work in 2016. Saw some amazing sights (punchup out the front of the Criterion at 9:30am) and some amazing characters (angry skater man, abusive red hat man, creepy dude in window, pillow head, the East Perth TAB crew near the Carlton).

I was considering writing a book on the experience but may run into some problems at work re publishing...

You can't just drop pillow head and walk away like that.

I moved here at 18 and it took me quite a while to warm to it, I actually also considered writing a book based on my move and my observations of Perth. I may get to it one day. The Bell Tower time’s on Facebook is worth a look at.

Didn't run into Maddog did you?

Sorry about that Uncle.

Pillow head is as imaginatively named as all the others...literally a person wandering around with a pillow wrapped around her head. Not a thin hotel pillow either, this one was huge, like a beach ball. I think it made the chroming more efficient and/or protected the noggin in a fall. Saw her a few times in the CBD but then also right out near the airport...

Didn't have that pleasure, but a mate who worked there for a while as an ambo told me a few Maddog stories.

On topic, Jesse to kick 6 today.

Aha! We had icecream head in Darwin. Bloke that used to walk down the street with a 4ltr icecream container on his head offering to sell acid trips. Never took him up on the offer, but I get the feeling they were pretty good.

We also had a very pretty girl that wore a raincoat, gumboots and washing up gloves, and walked around with two plastic bags full of old newspapers.

She could have been a supermodel if she wasn't insane. I hope she is doing ok.

Another bag of 5 and he now has 31 goals on the season, just two behind the lead for the Coleman.  While also averaging 20 disposals per game.

Superstar.

Yea we've got Ned the Flower-pot head,  who has an amazing sense of balance, although last I saw him was a year or so ago when I walked out of a bar in the wee hours and almost trod on him doing push ups on the street out front.

Massive game from Hoges again today. He is breaking this comp open. Could be better than Carey if he can start dobbing them from 50+ What an absolute gun.

Give him and Oliver the Brownlow now.

I have money on Oliver so that would be nice ?

Oliver and Hogan are something to behold.

Their work rate was something to behold. Absolute stars and match winners.

Oh I almost forgot. They actually play with Melbourne!

Now Tommy is locked away . . . I'd love us to go to Jess and say "right . . . it's us or Ross Lyon. Here's a pen, here's the contract, six years, $1.2m per year indexed for inflation from 2020-26".

Not so incredible at the moment...

Is he playing sore as well as down on confidence?

Double grabbing of the ball, dropped marks, poor decisions, etc.

Hopefully he can get on the end of a few against the Suns and regain some much needed form.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
