Geesh neither Carlton or the eagles look like much chop this year.

I know it is early days bit both look tres ordinarie.

Interesting as I think the dogs, dees and gws will start waving to sides like this as they move up the ladder and the others move in the reverse order.

And I thought Bennell played some rough games for us. Really struggling tonight

I'm willing to admit that NicNat is actually turning into a decent player. He was good last week and he's killing them in the ruck this week. I;m looking forward to seeing him go up against Jamar.

Honestly - Bennell might as well be wearing a Carlton jumper. Matt Jones, Grimes and Bail are superstars compared to him...

His second efforts are amazing. I have a feeling that most who don't rate him or put him down are demons supporters who focus on his shortfalls.

Nic Nat is a tall who doesn't mark the ball, but his second efforts are excellent.

I'd prefer Lycett as a ruckman.

Hmm... Not sure about that, seen him take quite a few massive grabs in his time.

So, I fell asleep on the couch literally 30 seconds into this game and woke up to find it's half time. Did I miss anything?

Some very rusty footy.

Carlton look good when the other team treats them with no respect - so they are in it at the minute...

Carlton did in the second quarter - the scoreboard! HEYOOOOO!

The replay of the duck kicking a check side goal against the bombers 20 years ago was the highlight for me

Gee, free kick count is a shocker.

Can't wait to see the gems gifted to the Giants tomorrow. Another protected species.

Flogging them now... and you know what that means? A humorous post match Mick Malthouse presser

Josh Kennedy sure can take a strong mark and kick an important goal.

7 important goals, and there's still 7 minutes until three quarter time!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
