Pass mark for 2015

Featured Replies

IMO C and B 7 wins and 14th is on the way back from 2013.

That is sign of how bad we were in 2013

Fair enough

We probably should have finished about 25th on the ladder in 2013!

We should have bypassed the VFL and gone straight to the amo's - E division.

For me, is top 8 or very close to barring injuries. Lets face it, it is the second year with Roosy nailing down on the game plan. We have some young guys and guys that are in their prime. We have added speed in the back and forward line now so it has upped the team by a fair bit. If we don't get close I would be disappointed. Again.

I am with Barra17 on this one. We have added Frost, Salem and HL into our backline, Hogan and Garlett into our forward structure and we can look forward to an improved midfield with more depth, not only due to improvements through Viney, Mitchie etc, but some mature bodies through Newton and Vandenberg. This and the second year under Roos is not optimistic; it is realistic. Next year, with Petracca and Brayshaw in the mix, I am hoping for top four!

sorry but you're kidding yourself

It won't happen, but finals is a pass mark.

I'm expecting 8-10 wins and finishing anywhere from 9th-14th. If we are bottom 4 again I'll be disappointed.

Finals in 2016 is a non negotiable. Next year it will be 10 years since we made finals. It should never take a team that long in between making finals, let alone being a realistic chance to win a flag in finals. if we don't make finals next year then I'll have nothing left to give.

I don't think you're being realistic. 10 years is indeed awful, but as old dee pointed, the worst of those years was the season before last. You are demanding we go from 2 wins to 12/13 wins in the space of 3 years. Unfortunately, the odds and history are against that

I'm pretty negative on likely win / loss to be honest. I was last year too - thought four was best case and when we hit the bye mark around that I thought we might push 6-8, but the end of our year was pathetic.

Once again I'm most interested in our percentage. Last year I said 70-80 should be requirement, and we failed that.

In 2015, I'd like to see it 80-90%. If we can achieve that then the wins will be there.

sorry but you're kidding yourself

an old chinese proverb -

hope for the best but prepare for the worst

( that is how I view supporting the MFC and unfortunately the worst has come repeatedly in round one and hasn't gotten any better from there)

6 wins against Victorian sides (including at least one at Etihad) and at least 2 wins interstate.

8 wins and having a crack in every game.

Lol

Good to see optimism rather than realism but this is delusional.

Hoping for major improvement in skill level and ability to run out games better.

I wouldn't mind us winning one at etihad, beating st kilda and not being pumped by west coast/ beating them.

Hopefully 6-8 wins and another massive percentage increase

First year under Daniher we went from something like 4 to 15 wins?

Port did similar two seasons ago, and it happens every few years when a team comes from the depths to rise up the ladder in a single season.

Nothing is impossible,

Getting to half time of round 1 without the hope of the season gone already.

Anyone who thinks we will improve by X amount of wins which teams are going to drop there win count from last year for us to achieve it. Go through the ladder and give each team a plus wins or negative wins for this season compared to last season. You need to end up with zero when your ladder is complete. A lot of teams look like improving this season.

Keep the binary sequence going,

2013: 2 wins

2014: 4 wins

2015: 8 wins

2016: 16 wins

8-9 wins, unless we get mass, devastating injuries (Petracca's is enough please). Also no 10 goal losses and 2 x 10 goal wins. Percentage at end of H&A around 90%. Get this and we get competition respect plus put ourselves in a good possie for 2016 finals.

Not too much to ask is it?

6 wins. And most of them against the bottom teams like St Kilda, Dogs, GWS, Brisbane and Carlton.

Last year we failed to beat anybody in the bottom 5.

BUT we have to win the first game because I am sick and tired of getting excited about the start of the year and having the cra*p kicked out of us in Rd 1.

Think this is So So important, confidence, ticket sales, up beat stories I feel sick just thinking it might be the same as other years,

apart from that double last years results should be expected, but we will win unexpectedly and lose badly on other days Go dees !!!

If you look at the past 10 years as a whole then it'll do your head in. The Jackson-Roos era was a fresh beginning in more ways than one, with one of the biggest being the turnover in the list. In that respect we are really heading into year 2.

14th (8-9 wins) I think is a reasonable pass mark for this season. Pending on the final ladder position, you're then looking at the fringes of the 8 by 2016. Finals then becomes the pass mark for 2017.

I had a call from some football club dude trying to wring some money out of me.

The club as a whole won't be satisfied with less than 8.

That moment of confidence didn't work. I refused to buy lotto tickets.

Well that's why I said the odds are against it.. 18 teams , every few years somebody has a massive jump, so in other words it's a 50-1 shot

8-10 wins totally gettable this year when you consider we lead in up to 10 games in quarter 4 last year. I will go out on a limb and say we will win 9 1/2 games. That is my pass mark.

Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
