I don't agree the rucks are not the reason we have spent 3 years in a black hole.

While they could be better there have been way bigger problems in the mid field and forward line.

We have average AFL standard Rucks the others mentioned have been barely VFL standard.

agree od, the lack of 2way running makes our team & rucks appear worse.

its the hard work & hard attitudes that are lacking

i think the role of a ruckman has changed a lot

the attributes of today's top ruckmen is measured more by what he contributes to general play rather than his tap work

jimmy really showed what a ruckman could achieve around the ground

changes or rules, umpire interpretations and tactics have emasculated the traditional rucking role

One area that we always had covered under Daniher. White, Jolly and Jamar were pretty decent.

Jamar never got a go under Daniher. For all his virtues, Daniher wasn't a man who took the long view.

Think the whole ruck division goes pear shaped if Gawn doesn't stand up. One area that we always had covered under Daniher. White, Jolly and Jamar were pretty decent.

King looks at least three years sway.

They were never decent at the same time. And Daniher really didn't manage the ruck stocks well. We should have drafted another ruck when Jolly left but we didn't. We paid overs for a 200cm rover in Paul Johnson. Bailey traded for Meesen in his first year to address the issue but Meesen was a fail.

Old Dee did you even read what I wrote? Where did I say the rucks are the reason we "spent 3 years in a black hole"? Where did I say we don't have big problems elsewhere on the ground? This is a thread on our ruck stocks, right? But I do note your last sentence is consistent with the gist of what I said.

He's competing with Sandilands. And is well regarded by the club.

How many games do you expect Nicholson and Evans to play for the Dees this year?

Well given they aren't on the list, not many.....

What the??

Agreed Dee tox. Our rucks have been thin for some time and injury has highlighted this.

See mfc site - king says he is a fwd who can ruck not a ruckman per se

Perhaps more in the fitz mold

So we have a player who is miles behind anyone else in terms of fitness, and in the mold of another player who can't get a game. Exciting times

That's just sandilands mate, he's taken.

With his helmet off, he looks a bit 'Max Gawnish.'

Yeah, but what is his defensive running like?

I heard he can't kick, and if he can't kick he can't play footy.

Looks like he may have potential, what is his fitness base like, we wouldn't want another Cale Morton.

Has he got any mongrel in him, we don't need another Jack Watts.

Nah, he would probably want to return to Freo after his first contact. etc .etc.

All I know is that there'll be quite a few strings attached in any potential trade.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
