I mirror the MFC.

I look a million dollars in Jan/Feb - come March I am bound to disappoint.

I will be happy with a couple of hundred thousand this year.

That will be way better than the normal ten

Exactly what Moses said at the Red Sea when he saw the Egyptians coming.

His direct no-nonsense straight-up-the-middle tactics that day parted the waters & the opposition was swamped.

A "truly special" coast to coast followed by a full team flood

and also he hardly missed a game for 4 years, meaning he was never dropped for form until 2014

thanks for all the replies but I am not sure we have unravelled much of this mystery yet!

my main question remains: why only us and the bombers interested, it doesn't quite fit

Had to wade through a couple of pages of dross to find your question, Essendon and us were probably the only 2 teams who really needed a mature small forward, it makes sense.

He didn't cost us a hell of a lot and I trust the coaching group to get him in the right place and get back to doing what he does best, kicking goals, already seeing some of what Roos plans to do with him, JKH, Bail and Kent .

The court case will probably see him get a fine at most, from what I can gather they were defending themselves and were provoked, no excuses from him though

If he was just defending himself he shouldn't be facing any charges at all

You were there to see the fight? You are a legal expert? Let's just wait and see the outcome before making uneducated guesses.

come on man that's a weak throwaway line that makes no sense.

Malthouse has been senior coach of 4 AFL clubs over 28 consecutive years for 3 premierships. If there was some problem with his relationship with players he obviously would have crashed and burned long ago

It was a throw away line but its actually true as I understand it. An ex Coll player told me he became increasingly eratic, had his favourites and that the players believed his game plan was out of touch and a bit mindless. The Buckley scenario changed him quite significantly and his demeanor and patience etc were well and truly tested. As you have seen from his media performances he has lost the plot quite a bit.

Is coaching to prove Eddie wrong and I believe he isn't as good as his record on the face of it suggests. He won two flags with a virtual state side. Any muppet could have done that. He was at Collingwood 12yrs abefore he won a flag - somewhat luckily. ad he not won that flag his record would be very average for a 2 time premiership coach. he isn't a patch on clarkson.

So yes i was being flippant but Mark neeld came from the same mould as well you know :)

I'm just guessing here, but I would say that Jeff wanted to stay in Melbourne which reduced the amount of teams that he could possibly go to.

He is raising a family here right?

It must be interesting waiting for me to post, so you can be snarky, you do have a life? no I wasn't there, but going on what happened to the other protagonists and reading the reports and speaking to a few people, and other similar offences, this is what I would assume would be the outcome, so it was not uneducated per se, but then again we will have to wait and see,, bit like saying MFC were [censored] last year so we will probably be this year, sound familiar, me I am happy we made the effort to get Jett, and to answer the other query, believe he is from WA, so a return home could have been on the cards

Get over yourself, no one cares for your legal opinion. My point was exactly what you now agree with, that we will have to wait and see before pre judging the outcome. I too am happy we got Gartlett at a good price. Glad we are of the same view, as much as it pains me to say. Let it go, or can't you?

Was told relationship breakdown with mother of his kid was a factor last year. She is a Victorian which would explain reluctance to go interstate.

Looking forward to seeing him up forward with Hogan, Dawes, Kent, Salem, Kennedy-Harris etc. If he gets back to his best, kicking goals and using his speed offensively and defensively he should be an important player for us. So far so good over the pre season.

I think you mean you don't care, I for one do. If you don't care about his opinion, then don't read it or ignore his posts

You care for his legal opinion? Next you're going to say 'it's the vibe'. Btw, you can also not read or ignore my posts.

The court case was open to the public and reported on. So there is quite a deal of information about it. It does seem that Jeff and Feral were not the agitators. It would surprise me if those two received a meaningful sentence.

why we brought him in

-last year despite coming on as sub for 3 of his 9 games he still averaged a contribution of 13 points a game (3rd highest at carlton)

-when he was involved in a chain carlton scored 55% of the time (highest at carlton last year)

-could thrive in a new environment, especially one lacking small forwards

why he was delisted from carlton

-is a bit of a pest out and about

-was not happy with the eddie betts leaving

-training habits were pretty poor

The reason I linked and quouted an article in the OP was to point out the other agitators were "issued with convictions and community corrections orders".. one would assume that Garlett's punishment will be equal or less than that, meaning no interruption to his ability to play footy - wild assumptions of course.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
