Jordan Schroder

Schroder was delisted by Geelong in October.

I have quite a few mates that barrack for Geelong and most of them rate Schroder highly and were disappointed to see him leave. They are mostly of the opinion that he was squeezed out of the club due to lack of opportunity, not lack of talent. I have seen him play a couple of AFL games and liked what I saw.

He's a 21 year old strong, big bodied midfielder who can also hit the scoreboard.

Worth a look in the rookie draft?

yes yes and yes.

another prototype of what MFC needs.

this kid has the talent and the toughness.

He was behind too many in a strong Geelong mid rotation.

Worth a rookie spot.

Whilst a talented team, Geelong's midfield, especially contested ball winners are actually pretty light on after Selwood who has to do a lot himself. Caddy is the great hope. Christensen was their best clearance player after Selwood and SJ.

Schroder is solid, but short. Not quick and average skills.

We have Riley, Michie and Newton all looking for opportunity and I like them as much as Schroder. Newton has a left foot. Michie a bit of x factor and Riley is as tough as they come.

I don't think we need Schroder.

We can never have enough midfielders!

I like the sound of Schroder and have a good gut feel about him.

Roos had been able to get the best out of players who get a second chance. He is ready to go...

Yes for me. Especially if we recruit McCartin.

I don't think his footy ability is the problem, it's his attitude from what I've been told.

Would've fit in well with a few noted party boys from our club in the recent past.

Like a young Colin Sylvia, or alternatively an older Colin Sylvia... not in playing style.

I thought he was really cute in The Champ but he hasn't done much of note since then.

If we get another dumped VFL quality player then he will just be another dead wood list clogger that everyone will want gone in two years.

Rather work on another kid then another VFL player.

There's always a reason a player is delisted and usually because they're not good enough.

But they can improve and Newton says hello.

I think one of our rookie spots will be used for a ruckman.

I hope not. We've already got King developing. Just trade or draft a mature ager if come next year we need them as back up if Jamar retires.

Even better get an international recruit so they don't take up a list spot.

We've only got 2 picks and both might be early enough to find players of value around the ground.

Oh I understand now, because Tom Gillies was no good, every DFA is hopeless and will never improve.

Ever had a bad meal? That would mean you don't eat anymore, correct?

Yeah, that's usually the way it goes. Not a lot of tolerance for bad cooking.

I'm just saying they weren't good enough to hold at a spot at their first club, so I won't be placing all my bets on them at their new club.

If they prove me wrong I'll be the first to say well done. You can even quote me on that.

But they can improve and Newton says hello.

Say hello?

Newton has come to the club with 5 games experience and like Michie Riley before him struggled to break into their original teams.

Michie Played 6 games and Riley 9. I exactly wouldn't call that a win either.

Newton still needs to prove himself he is in our best 22. Atm he is no certainty.. positions will be up for grabs between Michie Riley and Newton

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
