Sam McLure on 3AW reporting 4 year deal imminent.

Reckon he's a great match and they'll be instantly improved next year.

From 1:04

Rocket heads the beach each day

Then he goes a gives a big spray

Hope Gaz's shoulders not lame

This is how win our games

Rocket's coaching days were gone

Soon he'll be on Metricon's lawn

Hoping it doesn't go bad,

At least he'll have a great ex Cat

Thought the Suns would've wanted a winner.

He is mate. 4 premierships as a player, one as reserves coach at Brisbane and a great record as a coach with Sydney and Footscray.

A really good bloke who will do well and get the senior coaching premiership he deserves. A great selection by them.

If we didn't get Roos, Rocket would have been my next pick.
The Suns are at about the stage the Swans were when he took over in 1996.

Thompson, Worsfold, or any other past coach who knows what it takes to win a flag.

Eade's twice the coach Worsfold ever was. And half as crazy as Bomber.

Makes me laugh to hear of 4 years contract for a coach these days. What are the odds he'd see it out. Miss the finals next year and he'd be under the pump. Nice payout if sacked early though

Some of them have smaller pay out clauses these days. But if you want a big name who's happy on a good wage at the Pies you probably have to pay up.

Maybe instead of 750k per season for 4 years the deals should be 2mil in year one followed by 300k per year after that but no pay out if you get sacked.

Hope he loses his first game.

So do I 'Jack' but his appointment makes it just that little bit harder for us.

One things for sure, they won't be able to complain about his match day coaching, there aren't many better.

yes and no

They'll be far from accomplished as to the new game plan so early in the season.

Roos will have a fair idea as to Rockets ideas !!!

The game has changed a lot since those days.

missing the point...Roos understands how Eade thinks.. he also is very observant of the game. He'll be able to interpret it as possibly Eade develops the new Suns plan.

No I get the point, but all coaches now have a pretty good understanding of other teams game plans. The really good ones know it better than others, in this case Roos.

Anyway it doesn't really matter, Eade is a good appointment and I think GC will be difficult first up. Eade has a history of getting an immediate response from his team.

Think you will find Eade knows what it takes to win one, which is mostly "cattle".

I liken it to the Malcolm Blight situation going from Geelong to Adelaide. Regular chokers were the Cats in Blight's era, came close but couldn't get a flag. Blight moves to Adelaide and within a short time, he wins back-to-back.

It'll be interesting to watch the Gold Coast over the next couple of years under Eade - if there's an available coach out there that can get them a flag, there isn't many better than who they picked.

Could any posters out there do me a favour and explain why Eddie is making such a huge deal about this? I'm not sure I understand.

And what it has to do with the equalisation tax? I've read a few articles now and I can't understand his position.

Cheers.

Lol, I suppose this is as good an explanation as any!

I actually agree with Eddie

Eade has a contract with the Pies, if they were tired of him Eade would expect to be paid out.

The boot is on the other foot so Eade ( or GCS ) should honour the contract or pay an exit fee.

It seems to me that contracts for Coaches etc are all one way, a contract is a two sided agreement.

Old ..theres a generally agreed to gentlemans nod that assistants etc wont be prevented from moving to another club for a higher position as is the case here with Rocket.

I can see both sides but as usual its the filth that get their pound of flesh..

I look forward to he and Bucks sharing a very ordinary year !! :)

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
