Grimley's been on the list for a fair while and hasn't done much of note so far. Still, he's a big unit so may be starting to come along.

Edit: After watching a few Blues games this year, I'd be after Levi Casboult as another tall to bolster the stocks. Huge bloke and takes a mean mark.

Grimley? No. If Hogan signs for two more years, we need to focus on more quality mids and maybe a quick running half back with very good decision making ability and disposal.

MS that's pretty much what Jackson said today, and make em big please

Would just be depth behind Pedersen, Hogan and Dawes. I'm not super interested.

I just said in the Juice thread if Frawley goes we need someone like Grimley to fill in so yeah I'd potentially take him for nothing but he's a depth prospect who's a just in case kind of player.

He is a dead set idiot, would hate for him to come to us

Compare Grimley to Spencer. My god.

Grimley has skills, knows how to mark and kick goals. Actually a ruck/forward. Has Mcevoy/Hale/Lowden/Ceglar before him at Hawks. At 21, best is ahead if him. In fact, he is ahead of Gawn.

Delisted free agent. Offer him 2 years.

Sam Grimley would be a sensational pick up....came from a basketball background( I think ) whom is just starting to become consistent...would make a great CHF pick up...

Unfortunately Spencer just signed a 2-year extension. However, if bringing in Grimley meant that Spencer would be off the list in 2 years time, i'd definitely do it. Could help out in both the forward line and ruck like Mitch would have been doing (obviously not as good as Mitch, but we wouldn't be giving him Mitch dollars, and could throw the spare cash at some other player's we need).

Obviously not a very nice thought (i admit), but it's a brutal industry and Spencer has been on our list for too long and done next to nothing.

He looked like a potential AFL power forward to me when representing Box Hill yesterday.

Also Hallihan and Kelly.

I thought he looked pretty average and had his colours significantly lowered by georgiou.

Fitzy is one to stick with ahead of him and I also like the early glimpses of Max King

spencer was strong to start the year, his contract extension was granted because really he is the only player capable of playing number 1 ruck if Jamar is down.

Gawn is developing well as a ruck man and I am happy to be proven wrong by Grimley but at the end of the day I doubt this guy is going to be on hawthorns list for much longer and really he is not overly athletic, his skills aren't that great and really he is not even ahead of the players on our list.

I must be totally out of touch, because until this thread I had never heard of this guy.

On the rare occasions Casey are on ABC , I watch them. I was very aware of how much our reserves were outclassed by Hawthorn's on Saturday.

I thought Grimley really stood out above any of our tall forwards.

Why isn't he in Hawthorn firsts?

Who would he displace? Roughead,?Breust?Gunstone? Perhaps Hale or Ceglar.

But MacEvoy would be ahead of him, and so would Lowden.

If he wants to play regular AFL, he's at the wrong club.

He ain't playing firsts because his no good. I'm wondering which part of his 8 touches, 1 mark and 1 goal 1 behind on the weekend, impressed you so much ?

I didn't realise his stats were so poor, but I noticed three things. A very strong contested mark against a big pack.

A 60 m goal shot, and a very aggressive attack on one of our players, whom he dwarfed.

Georgiou outplayed a couple of top class AFL forwards early this season, if I remember correctly, so perhaps it wasn't a disgrace to concede honours to him( though that wasn't obvious to me)

I couldn't help feeling, watching him in that dominant performance by Box Hill, that there was a guy who we could use if Hogan doesn't come up.

I guess my real point is, we should study Box Hill closely. There could be players there that can't break into their strong AFL side, that could shine for us.

Someone else mentioned how we got Brett Lovett. Sydney secured Josh Kennedy.

Players aren't happy playing multiple VFL games , repeatedly being in the "best players",with no hope of senior selection.

So despite the fact this is an "embarrassing thread", I think there's some food for thought, JV7.

No thankyou, not necessary. There's some better prospects out there for a key forward.

Brett Eddy in the SANFL and Lech Featherstone from Coburg in the VFL for starters.

Callum Sinclair if your looking at Ruckman not getting a regular game

We've posted about him before 'Pennant', he looks like he could offer something as that tall ruck/forward option. I notice he kicked, was it 6 a couple of weeks back. How did he go on the weekend?

The Eagles seem to be pushing Lycett up ahead of him.

Yeah fair point. My judgments of him are probably clouded... Played my junior career with him and he gave up footy and played basketball because he was no good at footy. Still cant believe he ever got drafted.

Everytime we play them he always seems to play really well. Good solid contested mark and good kicking from what I gather.

'The Herald Sun reports that forgotten Hawthorn big man Sam Grimley wants to be traded to gain more senior opportunities elsewhere after failing to break into the Hawks line-up despite terrific VFL form.

The 200cm Grimley kicked 45 goals for Box Hill Hawks to win the VFL's goalkicking award.

The 23-year-old, who is contracted to the Hawks for next year, played each of his three AFL games last year and sees little hope of adding to his tally in an attack that boasts the likes of Jarryd Roughead and Jack Gunston.'

Surely given our lack of firepower up front and our need for s genuine second ruck, Grimley is worth consideration?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
