Cameron Guthrie from Geelong is a bloke Id have, Would love him in the red and blue

Varcoe and Stokes were again putrid in a "Pressure cooker Final" and I reckon Geelong will be savage in the aftermath of this loss! Not that I'd have any of the later!

After all, we suffered severe Burns when we picked up another past-due Cat recently.

Paddy Ryder on the market. Just confirmed he wants a trade....

Can't understand why...

How about Pick 2 for O'Rourke & 4.

Pick 3 & McKenzie for Jaksch, GWS's end of 1st round compo & 2nd round pick

Our 3rd round pick for Frost

We end of with O'Rourke, Jaksch, Frost & Picks (approx after compo/FA picks etc) 4, 21 & 26

Loose: Picks 2, 3, 44 & McKenzie?

Everyone of those screws GWS over massively.

So they lose a highly rated junior for a TWO pick upgrade??

Why the hell would they want McKenzie? They need to shrink their list, not fill it with duds.

They lost an even higher rated one last year for a 7 pick upgrade, so there's history for them....

Also I fail to see how a 3rd round pick for a KPD 5th in line on their list screws them over?

And look at it this way. If we did that back in 07', that's Trent Cotchin instead of Cale Morton.

I wouldn't be using Melbourne's drafting history as cause to support your argument just quietly..

2 + 3 for Mitchell, Reid, Malceski and Sydney's first pick.

Go on Swans, your cap is stuffed.

I like, but wont happen.

Sydney will have to commit their 1st round pick to Isaac Heeney.

swings & roundabouts Mono, we picked up Pederson as well, Crossy, its the changes that helps to gradually clear out the old cobwebs in our closet. the next spring clean is upon us.

Anyone think this trade has legs, given the Doggies desperation for a power forward?

Pick two and Mitch Clark for pick five and Hrovat?

the afl will have to get eddy's OK for Mitch to get to the Doggies.

How about Mitch Clark, Jamar & P-22 to the Dogs for P-5 + ???

Can't see them being keen on trying to carry Minson & Jamar in the same team, both are no 1 ruckmen in their own right and neither are natural forwards.

I thought that Minson was finished, he's gone backwards. thought Jamar could be depth.

what happened to the father-son ruck they picked up about 4 Yrs back?

In that case Gawn & Clark for P-5.

Oh yeah, Ayce Cordy, he's been a big bust for them. And St Kilda I believe it was forced them to use a 1st round pick on him and Doggies didn't call the Saints bluff. They've got the next Cordy coming through this years draft actually, although I don't beleive he's a ruckman.

Don't want to give up Gawn, although Pick 5 and Hrovat would be great!

Jamar has one year left. If we can trade him for some younger ruck talent we should. Giles??

I'm not sure that gawn has it. but he is getting bigger.

however there are some talent to be had this draft I think in the top 23ish..

If we could get Shiel & Brayshaw, plus Jaksch, & Pickett, add stretch, I think these players under the right tutelage would see our list in pretty good shape for the future. Add a giles or other ruck to our equation.

Then all we need is a marquis player, but that could be next season as well.

But this year we need to add the mature leadership, even if only for one season in RO'K & hopefully Sewell, as we bring in the young players from all around the place. its the right time for these guys to help steady a very changing ship.

It wouldn't surprise if RO'K turned into a pretty decent coach as well.

I don't think he would get Giles over the line.

Jamar is just steak knives, depth for some deal for the right suitor.

would Bail & a 4th Rnd pick get it done ?

Putting Jamar in a combined trade does not strengthen it, he weakens it. Astonishing he got 3 years.

Forget trades for Jamar, Tapscott, Strauss etc.

They are garbage, not steak knives.

I'd like us to trade pick 3 for Mitchell and Zak Jones.

The Swans don't have a backup ruckman to help out Pyke which is about their only weakness. We give them pick 3 so they can take Wright and we have 2 midfielders that will walk into our side.

It's a win\win situation and the Swans can afford to lose a midfielder or 2 because they get to up Heeney in the first round.

I'd also like to see us trade Watts for Lumumba and Collingwood's 2nd round pick. We need players that can break lines and Lumumba can give us that, while Watts gives us nothing.

Our team could look like this

B: McDonald, Dunn, Jetta

HB: Grimes, Garland, Lumumba

C: Brayshaw, Mitchell, Zak Jones

HF: Vince, Dawes, Viney

F: Howe, Hogan, Kent

FOLL: Jamar, Tyson, Nathan Jones

IC: Cross, Salem, Gawn, Trengove

Suddenly we look like we have midfield depth with Lumumba, Mitchell, Brayshaw, Jones and Trengove in the team and if Howe can stand up as the 3rd tall and Hogan produce the football we think he can then maybe we can climb up the ladder.

I think whatever we do, unless we get real mid stars in a trade, we should aim to get at least one top mid from the draft. If that is Petracca or Brayshaw then we should take 1 and then maybe trade the other pick assuming we get 3 for Chip.

If the crystal ball said they would both be great, I would be happy to take both if we could, that seems unlikely. We appear certain to trade at least 1 high pick.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
