Has Frawley announced that he's gone to the cats yet??

As mentioned in another thread Varcoe and Stokes again found wanting in a pressure cooker final!

Selwood is the most ADMIRABLE PLAYER in the game right now, Sheeit he's brave!

definite free. the ball wasn't held to him and he failed to dispose of it correctly

prior op had nothing to do with it

I replayed it and timed it, pick up to tackle, 1 second. Definitely prior..

i wanted geelong to get a goal and go into extra time, but I would have laughed if nth managed to lose that. Wow never thought it would be a sydney nth prelim. But Hawkins hammered thompson tonight. buddy or Tippett will monster thompson next week. He just got well beaten.

Lindsay thomas is there any chance one day you will get off the ground pick yourself up and not have your arms stretched out wide complaining to the umpire. I have never ever seen someone whine so much. Yes admittedly he could have got some frees but when he whinges and dives of course the umps arnt going to pay it.

Few clear free kicks not paid to Thomas tonight. Once the umpires know your act you can't expect free kicks. He's his own worst enemy.

and that reversed free he gave away on the boundary was nothing more than stupid.

So James. Is it the right move?

The cat dynasty is over

7 years. With G Ablett could have been 10

PSD the old system of drafting sent the VFL completely bust by 1985-6. Thus the interstate teams were signed up.

The current draft is fine.

The MFC has been shocking at using it. We may need a PP but we don't deserve it.

We have to start earning our position rather than just wanting it.

WYL in 85-86 we didn't have salary cap which we do now so clubs would be within limits of who they could pick up if we went back to that system

Again we are not the only ones who get the draft wrong every club has made horrendous choices

I'll back Roos knowledge against yours any day and even he knows the draft is a lottery

and finally look again over the last 20 years how many first and second round picks have failed, a hell of a lot because they are being judged as junior footballers

Was at the game tonight with a few Cats supporters and as much as I hate the Cats I thought that North looked the stronger side - So I barracked for the Catters. Even though the Cats have beaten us to a pulp over the last few years I still can't bring myself to support North in a game of footy. For so long it feels like they've been the pretenders and there are a number of players on their list who I despise. Even when they were seemingly close to winning the game their administration still felt the need to tell their supporters to 'make some noise' - a club completely void of culture and identity and I think if given the hard times we've been subjected to as supporters/members/diehards their club wouldn't be located where it is currently, if in existence at all.

The thing that stood out to me was the value of a dominant ruckman and Goldstein filled the bill last night. He monstered the Cats' rucks and its a tribute to their fighting spirit and their (albeit waning) talent and experience that go them so close. If you look at Melbourne's very few wins and our better games this season they came when we won in the ruck, mainly through Mark Jamar (and Spencer v Carlton). When the Russian's form lapsed at the end, apparently as a result of a lack of a pre season, we did too. He received some late back up from Max Gawn but losing Clark and Spencer and with King also out injured and being light on in strength and experience, we were at a disadvantage. I know we say "it's the midfield stupid" but the ruckman plays a big role in the midfield. Look at Sandilands and his understanding with Fyfe and others or at the way Goldstein controlled the centre bounces last night. I'd be disappointed if we weren't targeting one more ruck prospect for the future.

... except his coach

Seeing North win finals is really pissing me off. I am getting very irritable. I think the only thing that can alleviate this is if they make it to the granny and get destroyed by +100.

They will not make it Swans fwd line will belt them.

Swans will probably [censored] North, but credit where it's due, they have been fantastic during this finals series.

Cats are on the way down with Enright, Bartel and Mackie showing signs that the end is nigh for them plus several others lacking real class.

Brian Taylor is such a fool....

Understatement of the decade,

Understatement of the decade,

i know!! But his first piece of vommentary for the night was just wrong!!

i know!! But his first piece of vommentary for the night was just wrong!!

what did he say?

No Colin Sylvia in the Freemantle line up?

Freo playing champagne football at the moment. Their pressure is outstanding. Should be 6 goals up.

Would Love to have Ross Lyon follow Roos. The guy is a seriously good coach. Freo are monstering Port.

Edited by chook fowler

Some bullshite Freo free kicks right now. Port players held at 3-4 contests in a row. Ball goes over the boundary line. Freo get a free for holding even though the ball is out of play.

Ridiculous.

Have to look back at the replay Trust me it was Dumb...!

Was it the one where he said Crowley was going to Wines when he was clearly following Boak step for step.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
