Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

I understand why they are doing it, the point is that being told you are not wanted would not naturally proceed this. That is why I am questioning those who are suggesting that this is what Roos has done.

Depends exactly how and what and to what extent you (MC) were told - eg presented with an offer which MFC said was low because of X or conditional on Y and MC thought X wasn't enough of a reason or Y is too onerous. So both sides amicably agree to differ.

In any case most people will say whatever paints themselves in the best light. Saying nothing or bad-mouthing MFC wouldn't do much for MC's or his manager's reputations whereas saying they will look after the MFC paints them as good guys regardless.

I'm not saying Roos has indeed done what is conjectured, just that there is no evidence against it. And at this stage it is one possibility that desperate Demons supporters can cling to.

Geelong are fading. Hawthorn are the team we should be worried about.

Geelong are fading correct, but you add Clark and Frawley to that side and all of the sudden they stay a top 4 team for the next 3 years and have a chance to pinch another flag. Unfortunate for us we just happen to be at the bottom end of the ladder for free agency, the way it is working at the moment the top teams are getting players to top up their list.

I think the comment is very believable.

Honestly why would he go to a poor team.

Because every team has a salary cap and a poor team will have more $$$ to spend. Sometimes a poor team can also sell potential, look at us we have done this for 10 years and we still can attract players, Tyson, Vince, Cross, Dawes, Clark

Wouldn't be surprised if there was another reason Mitch Clark prematurely retired (other than what we are aware about) and why Melbourne aren't that upset about trading him.

I just think this MFC are leak proof.

IMO it is that simple

My take. He wants out. Go.

Where..don't care

Want club to extract best return on what is essentially another clubs gamble

Caveat Emptor really as history suggests we'll win out of this in the end.

Simply put behind us the fiasco that has been the Mitch Clark experiment/ experience and welcome to the club whoever...and we move on and up.

Im somewhat excited and curious to how our list will look after trade and draft.

A whole lot less NQRs im guessing and MC has been the epitome of such.

I agree bb

If you look at MC's career his body has not stood up well since he was drafted.

We are $700 000 better off in 2015 than this year

I know I probably love the the Melbourne Footy Club far too much for my own good, but what irks me more than anything else about this situation is that as I lie awake, tossing and turning at night worrying about the very future of my team, I know that somewhere MC is sleeping soundly in his king sized bed, occasionally dreaming smugly about how he dudded us, and how he intends to spend his dollars.

I think there are different ways of telling him that we can't meet what he wants. The fact is that, while a top club may choose to pay him a bigger salary on their main list just in case he comes good, we're not in a position where we can afford to use up a spot on our main list for such a risk (and the term "risk" can be interpreted in any number of ways). Therefore, a reasonable response is "fair enough, I'll see if there's any interest elsewhere."

It's more or less telling him that, with the club in its present state, this is the best we can offer to someone in your situation. That's not quite the same as "we don't want you", although admittedly it amounts to the same in the end.

And this is without getting caught up in the issues of whether or not MFC have been deceived. Because Roos' one goal is to salvage the lousy situation in the best way possible by somehow getting a generous trade.

And of course, with Roos, it seems that what goes unsaid tends to be just as pertinent as what is said.

With respect to Mitch, we don't need fragile players taking us forward.

Apart from a few good games, what has he really contributed to the club?

Get the best possible deal for him and move on - he really doesn't deserve much more thought to be honest.

If he is making the decision to leave us now considering where the club is currently at, how little he has contributed, and how much we have spent on him, it says a lot about the guy.

Anyone who thinks MC and Frawley aren't in the top 5 most impost players at our club is kidding themselves. We lose both after a season where we finished 17th. This is bad. Those guys impact games and kids don't for a few years.

Roos will have to have a blinder to improve our list with trades compared to the loss of those guys.

It hurts so bad that Mitch doesn't want to come back. Him back and firing is exactly what we need. I feel like the universe conspires to create just one or two crappy events each year to keep us down. This appears to be one of those.

His kamikaze style tends to lend itself to physical damage.

In 15 games, as well as the foot injuries, there was also the time he ended up piledriving himself into the ground after flying for a mark. Weren't there other injuries too?

So even if he does come back, would have to question whether he's going to continue his high-risk kamikaze style, or whether he's going to go easier on his body. And if he does go easier on his body, whether he'll be as effective.

And in crashing packs he seemed to take out more teammates than opponents.

I'd love to see the look on FIGJAM's face if MC ever crashes a pack & takes out Cloke or Elliott.

Well then Im kidding myself.

Frawley only managed 8th at the Bluey. Clark cant make it past a white line ( very often-historically )

One is actually totally irrelevant to our playing ability and the other's work rate is lacklustre at best ( more often than not ) and thinks grass is green elsewhere. So who really cares

The problem would be for mine if we did , as a club , actually think these guys WERE important to our future. Theyre not. Hogan is, Viney is , Tyson is, Bernie is, Chunk- very much so, Dunn has stepped up and wants to be a big part of it,

A person like Daniel Cross is infinitely more important than either of Chip or Mitch for us going forward and thats even acknowledging he has probably on 2 years in him left.

Jetta and T Mac are more important as they actually WANT to play 110% and do it for the Dees.

Frawley and Clark remind me of the so called value a celebrity has...its all show, more often a facade hiding a vacuum

The sooner we do actually stop thinking the likes of Frawley and Clark are pivotal to any success the sooner we will actually achieve some.

Yes he did a great job on Jonathan Brown.

MC has not been able to play football and Frawley was push/pulled out of his traditional position in the backline.

They are both excellent players but life after them is not only on the horizon, it will not make this club any worse, in fact, if we use Pick 3 properly - it might make us better...

To be honest, when Frawley won his AA, I thought he was a very flawed footballer. Like Luke Breust, Shannon Byrnes, Matt Spangher etc... they can hide with elite around them.

Clark hasn't impacted a game for 3 years.

3 years is a long time. I cannot see his body holing up. I can see alot of plugger Lockett scenario here. Absolutely spud it up when he comes out of retirement.

I will bet my testicles Clark will never make the impact he did back in 2012.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
