GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Recommended Posts

I can't believe anyone is defending MC. Those who suggest MFC pushed him out and do not want him are delusional.

From the outside MFC seem to have just accepted it as a fait accompli though. Cut the losses & move on.

Edit - spelling. Good effort in a two sentence post !

That might be true GNF but what have you heard the MFC will get as compo.

I was [censored] at first when the MC news came out (he was our best player) but if we get close to fair compensation I'll be happy (considering we should have got nothing with him retiring).... Don't need his issues at the club anyway

I have heard nothing except they have no interest in Varcoe....... which I think was made public anyway.

You're right.

This soft club should crumble and retire a revered number because one sh*t bloke for a short time was here on a fat contract, then p*ssed off for easy wins elsewhere.

Or maybe not?

Christ, some people are so bloody precious.

Move on FFS.

Haha you really are a ball sack aren't you.

It is fairly obvious that Roos moved on pretty quickly from his crocked CHF. We haven't fought very hard to keep him have we?

I don't think we wanted it to end like this but Roos is a pragmatist - why have such an investment in a bloke who cannot get on the park and doesn't help where we need the most help - in the midfield?

Don't agree on this at all 'rp', Clark would be an enormous help in the midfield. A winning ruck who can get a lot of his own ball would be invaluable.

It's October 2 and not only are we fine with him leaving, we have been for a few weeks now, he already has a nominated club, we have been allowing him to talk to clubs, again, for a few weeks now, and Mahoney has already said we are happy to facilitate a trade to Geelong.

None of this smacks of the club trying very hard to keep a bloke.

I have no idea, but if you believe GNF, we always wanted him to stay and expected him to return to us and us only.

No doubt we were bitterly disappointed to find out that he wanted out and I'm sure we tried to make him stay. It might have just been a case of being told "not gonna happen", in which case what do you do?

We had him training with club fitness staff under a program designed for him personally. You don't do that for a player you don't try hard to keep.

You want to put that bloke in the ruck? The last place I would put that bloke is in the most physically demanding position on the ground.

Yeah I would, he's either fit to play or he's not. He was robbed of AA honours the year he played there for Brisbane and I can guarantee Geelong will use him in the ruck for a fair degree of time particularly if Vardy comes back.

I think all the way through til we found out otherwise the club was very much behind Mitch. I think though that we were just doing the right thing for a long whiles without really thinking he would , well, do what he has. I think the club thought, if he recovers he'l want to rejoin. Got that wrong obviously. Seems the Club thought one thing , the player another

I can only deduce the club was well and truly blindsided, a nd quite late in the piece at which point the club changed its position.

Roos once blindsided was furious. I think it is fair to say at this point Roos wanted nothing more to do with him except for extracting the best trade for him.

A ball sack? What are you, 14?

And ignorant, if you don't get my point.

Good points.

Compare it to Collingwood with Beams.

GNF, I refuse at least at this point in time to abuse MC.

You apparently have a good contact at the club.

ATM I don't know what happened to see him leaving us.

I can picture at least 6 scenarios.

What I do know is that the club, at least publicly, has said or done nothing to try and keep him. Even Roos on 360 had a perfect opportunity to just say he would like him to stay, but refused 3 times when asked to do so.

Given the above circumstances how can you accuse people who suggest that the MFC pushed him out and don't want him, as being delusional. That is a pretty fair conclusion to draw.

If somebody at some stage sets the record straight, we will at least all know. Do you want to do that, or do you not know either?

post-rationalisation at its worst

You may think that, but why would Roos be so quick to move on?

If he was 'blindsided' - he certainly changed gears quickly.

We all have our own theories - mine is along the lines of: we wanted to keep him at a very reduced rate, or even on the Rookie List, and were expecting that to happen or him not to play football anymore, after he decided he didn't want either of those options, the club moved on very quickly from that. I think they moved on quickly because they know that the longshot he can revive his career isn't worth fighting for. Now it is all about getting something back from this awful scenario.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
