You don't need motive. Obtain a copy of your states Criminal Code and read the elements to any of the offences. Motive won't be one of them.

They may have intent, which is obviously different to motive.

Tanking has been going on for quite some time in a number of sports where a priority pick hasn't been on offer. The thinking is the same all over - offer up a prize like the first pick and a number of sporting teams or clubs will take the bait. The priority pick increases the likelihood of tanking but it's not the sole reason that tanking takes place.

Too many link tanking to the priority pick far too much - the lower the pick the better, is how most or many would view things. Hard to prove but if logic is applied, that thinking stands to reason.

I don't have a great deal of faith in the draft and have always had that view so therefore, I see very little point in tanking for a marginally better placed draft pick ... however, mine is probably a minority view. Now, like me, you may may not see the benefit in tanking for a lower pick but do you speak for the "probable" majority? (or a large number of other people)

GWS are probably tanking. I reckon they've done it before and the AFL turned a blind eye - out of sight, out of mind. The footy public won't care unless the footy public wants a head to kick. Most people couldn't care less about GWS and it's doubtful they'll care unless GWS become a threat.

they've got to try to get the players that importantly fil the gaps they have. Inside hardness is a must for them. they are very short of hardness all over.

Can't say I'm glad to see a young kid with well-known knee issues having to go under the knife again at 23.

Anyone who gets paid to do anything and then gets an offer to do it somewhere else for a lot more money would take it. The kid took hold of the greatest opportunity a 20 year old would ever get and good luck to him. Anyone who says they wouldn't do the same is lying to them selves.

Chasing a once-in-a-lifetime deal is OK, although my personal (and perhaps biased) opinion is that it was a cheeky thing to do so early in his career.

It's the way he handled the whole thing that stunk. Both during and afterwards - coming out in the media and potting the club for it's incompentence.

I don't begrudge Sylvia, Rivers, even Scott Thompson (and soon to be Frawley) for moving on. Scully, on the other hand can get stuffed.

Last time he ended his season early he was next seen signing for a new team. Where's he going this time? Has probably decided that he's got enough money in the bank and he can play against a similar level in the EDFL.

It's only fair that they get hit after their deliberate strategy of plundering the youth of the competition. Personally, while I want another quality youngster for us, I would also be very happy to see the Bulldogs get one of them. The doggies were the worst his side from the expansion clubs poaching players and got the worst compensation.

From reports they are highly keen on Petracca. Obviously unhappy about any situation where we finish beneath them on the ladder, as our two picks before them will probably ensure Petracca is long gone before their first pick.

Solution? Tank! Also gives us very little bargaining power to trade picks and nab Cameron/Shiel, so it's quite logical for them to stay beneath us.
