Sorry to hear about your foot Jane. Old age stopped my running career but I have found a great substitute in cycling( leisurely pace of course). Give it a go if you already haven't done so. Go Demons!!

I take spin classes Bobby but would never cycle here in Melbourne. The roads are crazy where I live. Perth must be a more cycle friendly place than Melbourne despite all of our bike lanes!

Great effort by Jess - a true Demon spirit effort - let's hope it inspires the footy club AND the supporters to finish off the season in a spirited fashion.

If anyone is interested, she has a website, including some interesting blogging. Not a huge site or a whole pile of content, but a bit of insight into the exceptionally disciplined and focused person she is.

Don't worry about her acceleration, or injury. When Jess gets drafted she will switch her training program to develop the required strengths, and she has already shown she can manage injury through one of the most grueling training programs there can be,particularly when it comes to coping with niggles.

Can't remember what sport she was in before switching to marathon, triathlon maybe? Like Nathan Jones, and with the same work ethic and consciousness of improvement.

Take a small positive out of a cr@ppy injury, at least he was able to see his sis bring home the bronze live. Fantastic effort from her, sounds like she's continually improving so congratulations to her.

(Oh and Jack should've given her a Dees flag to fly as well!)

Sounds like he is preparing for a " tour de pants".

Some riders are good up the hills- and some like a fast decline.

I'm good at crevassing.

I've heard the cobblestones can give you a real knee trembling.

I imagine you waiting at the rear of the pack- ready to come from behind.

I picture you in Lycra now- I'm scarred for life.

Was rapt to hear the news this morning and happy that Jack was there to share it ( although would prefer he was fit and still playing for us).

I am in total awe of all marathon runners. I've been trying to improve my running since the start of the year and my pace per km over 5 km is still about half as slow as the pace they hold for 42 km. If I was to run alongside them, I reckon I could manage that pace for maybe 200 metres. They are all simply amazing.

I only need a sniff.

The vending machines in Tokyo might be your best bet.

You'd struggle to get near Jess with your health issues.

It's time you trawled the bingo halls and CWA scone teas for some action like poor old DC.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
