Tom Boyd- Unhappy at GWS?

Featured Replies

I don't think he leaves GWS. Not yet anyway, and certainly not for being disgruntled when the season hasn't even been completed yet.

If we feel, as a club, that we need another tall forward then Butcher is worth a look. Would come cheaper but he is still young and we know what he can provide, plus we can then still use our top picks on mids.

Why is that? He's a number one pick, a tall forward which they have in abundance, can't get a game, and is disgruntled. Pick 4 isn't much of a downgrade and would certainly tempt them. It would be a different story if he had taken the competition by storm a la Cameron, but that hasn't happened.

Rumoured to be disgruntled....this is how the Demonland myths start....Cameron is starting to feel the full reality of AFL footy now, gets lots more attention than last year, needs to work through that

Dont think Boyds going anywhere either. but it intrigues me why some wouldnt consider him.. We salivated at the idea of Clark Dawes and Hogan Id be quite chuffed with Hogan Dawes and Boyd.. All conjecture really -_-

Good luck to them. Patton is a brute but a dumb, dumb footballer.

... but so was Hawkins,,, it takes time for the game to become 'intuitive', & involves self belief.

Until then, most players look dumb. you have to learn this, to understand it, to see past this. to see the real talent hidden.

I'd actually be happy having TS back at the club.

Ofcourse I'd only pay him about $70,000 a year.

scull' dog, that little piggy went to market. I'd like to see him in a Malthouse establishment. paybacks a bitsch.

don't right off Vickery....

As I said, I am passing on the information I was told. I have no reason to doubt who told me. My take was it is the living in Sydney thing first and lack of opportunities to date second.

Whether it is correct I don't know but thought it interesting and if true could make for an interesting trade week.

Wiseblood take it as you like.

I can only hope if true and he is open to a return home then we are into him. We will have negotiating chips.

Goad thanks for passing on the info.

Some posters are very quick to get excited about "sources" so don't let it bother u.

Pass on any further info u hear. Cheers

Really?

I thought Patton has been fairly impressive, needs a full pre season and injury free run, it's always hard to shine in a terrible side

Agree. Out of sight syndrome here.

Hasn't taken the comp like Cameron but slowly building into a good forward after a knee co.

Looked like he was about to rip Carlton a few weeks ago and was marking everything. Works hard and good hands.

Can only go up for Patton.

Would chase Patton as hard as Boyd.

Where is Butcher at? Haven't of him all season. Injured again?

Not injured, just not a great footballer.

Port have built their forward line around Schultz, the Hoff and a rotation of about 6 mids,

Butcher just gets in the way and doesn't contribute defensively.

If you are enquiring about John Butcher, one time could have been pickup for the Dees several years ago he is playing as Key Forward in the SANFL. He is having a good season from all reports.

Currently he sits behind one "Juice Newton" from Norwood on the SANFL Goalkicking list ,which makes him third or fourth on this list I think!

Most Richmond supporters have.....will be interesting to see if he can back up this week!!!

all the more reason to look at him closely... (Vickery)

I hope not, I'd like us to have a crack at him cheaply. environment, culture, environment, culture.

I'd rate Boyd as a better prospect than Patton - they are both unproven players.

In saying that I think Tom Boyd is the better footballer and athlete.

Boyd will be a star, easily worth our pick inside the 5.

Agree with above and would add that a forwards no. 1 job is to kick goals. He is only 50/50 to do so from the top of the goal square.

We already have ample players who can't kick, we certainly don't need another.

and some folk here want him

We are riddled with players with poor foot skills and some are calling for Butcher as a potential trade target. Like seriously, do you have any idea?

Does the question deserve such a condescending reply? He's played a total of 23 games for Port and I expect that many people, like myself, haven't seen a single one of them. I know he's a poor kick because I'm a sad bastard who spends too much time on the internet, but I expect the "Average Melbourne Following Joe" has had next to no exposure to him since he joined the AFL system.

are you for real. He but asks asks a realistic question and you ridicule him ??really

The first reply was condescending and Nasher answered his question by saying that he has seen him play. What is there to miss?

His kicking action isn't flash but he isn't a midfielder, he is a deep forward whose general strike rate in front of goal isn't all that bad. He is worth a look for the right price.

What's with all the heroes on here recently?

'Your opinion\suggestion sucks! I can't believe you said that! I'm clearly better than you and I know it'

Adam Tommlinson is the one I want, I see him emerging much like Tom Lynch has, very mobile, amazing workrate, good hands and skills and would compliment Hogan and Dawes really well in my opinion

would like to see pick 4 and 24 for Shiel and Tommlinson

He does want out but so far he hasn't been settled in a position. Has the rare pairing of speed and endurance along with his size. I don't know where his best position is but like a lot of his team mates he hasn't been handled well.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
