Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

We did not get one last year because the AFL allowed club lobbying to influence their decision making process.

How unusual :-)

After seeing the Saints in action they are absolutely deplorable - and some of their better players are heading towards the end. We were just as bad last year and did not get a PP - and one of our best players Clark retired this season. If the Saints get a PP there is no justice in the system. But for the good of the game they probably need one but I think the AFL will want to wait and see how they pan out next year before considering a PP.

The saints are in for a lot of short term pain

I have it on good authority Jack Steven will be head hunted by the hawks as a free agent next year to sure up their midfield

They put themselves in this position by getting rid of all their senior players and starting a rebuild. You can't then turn around and ask for priority picks.

If anything they should go to the bottom 4 or 5 teams who are all struggling with their lists due to how devastating the expansion clubs have been for the overall competition. GCS got literally every star player for 4 years running, including the best player in the league. It's pathetic.

Actually they are in this mess because they didn't get rid of their senior players earlier.

I think it was just terrible list management.

St Kilda cashed up on early draft picks in the last 90's - early 2000's.

Their list underachieved, this was until they made consecutive grand finals in 2009-2010.

In 2010, they were lucky to get there, IMO their list was playing above themselves.

Granted they nearly won and decided to top up in 2011.

The problem with St Kilda is that at this time, they had no youth coming through.

So while Ross Lyon wanted a flag and to top up - he appeared to neglect blooding youth.

2011 was a failure and Lyon left at the end of it.

Now personally I didn't see them that strong in 2011, I didn't see a need to sell youth down the drain.

Ross opted to go for a flag, neglect youth, he didn't get it - so he leaves.

At the end of 2011 season, Ross leaves St Kilda with no coach and no club directions.

St Kilda should've seriously considered offloading Riewoldt to the GC for 2011.

Should've floated Montagna and Dal Santo for trade at the end of 2010 or even 2011.

Goddard should've assumed the captaincy and taken on a highly talented bunch of kids.

If St Kilda had of planned ahead, they'd now be in a great position - looking forward to a decade of challenging for finals.

Now St Kilda are struggling and they'll want a PP.

Why should the AFL reward St Kilda a PP for shocking list management?

St Kilda already have 50% more wins than we had last year and we are barely 2/3 of the way through the season. If they get offered a pick we should be retrospectively be offered one before theirs, especially since one of their wins was against us, proving conclusively that we are more deserving!

Look likely not to win another game for the year. Have lost 10 in a row and 12 from 13.

10 in a row is worse the Melbourne believe it or not.

Chances are they will lose the next 7 and be 17 in a row which for a non-expansion team is rare. I think the Swans in 1993 might have lost 23 in a row.

Some are starting to suggest they deserve a PPick.

Given we did not receive one last year it has to be inconceivable they would get one. The PP has to be dead and buried surely??

I think that they a a chance against Bulldogs and Richmond

We maybe a chance v Bris and GWS They win we dont and we will finish last. Our run home is difficult

totally agree KDA

but they did sound out a trade for Riewoldt, but the fans screamed hard, so they backed off. & then Montagna, & Delsanto, again the fans screamed, but Del was the one eventually.

I would have kept Goddard & Del, & traded Montagna.

'Riewoldt', would have been his call; perhaps Goddard getting the Captaincy would have helped Roo with a decision?

Goddard would have been a good captain with them.

Mike Nolan - Jack Steven isn't a free agent. Within bounds, he can't just up and off to Hawthorn.

Free agent next year, I reckon he will be seriously tempted

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
