Is that Rodney on the right?

How old is Wiz' son? And what near term father sons do we have in the next couple of years? Whatever happened to Jake Lovett?

His 2000 season was phenomenal, 76 goals for a small forward. One game at Docklands against either Freo or WCE he kicked 7 or 8 goals including one off the ground from about 40 metres out in the pocket

Not to mention his 9 2nd half goals against the Pies after being dragged.

This is the game I remember. Shocking first half and then just absolutely magical. The Wiz; he'd have to give it a shake for best small forward of all time.

Yeah. There doesn't get much more mfc royalty in our premiership drought than Farmer, Neitz and Grinter.

They enjoyed a beer too for all those fretting about Spencer and co.

We could use the Wiz right now.

He is running around in the Casey Development team. Played on Saturday.

What era does Hodge play in?

Farmer, Neita and Balls (your examples) are from a different era.

Hodge was suspended by his club for drink driving, but I guess you knew that.

But I digress off topic

Hodge is the greatest captain of the modern era. He was suspended by the club by nessecity. Loves a beer but that is politically incorrect these days.

i don't condone drink driving but Hodge is a massive drinker and has captained the best team in the last decade. Players line up to stick by him because they respect him and they've all had a few beers with him.

A particular part of his work that I liked was that in clutch games (esp finals) he was often up and about early when the game was there to be won, hitting the scoreboard in his exciting way.

Yep, he'd cut loose and just light us up.
Here's a great interview from Dee TV with Robbo.

Here was our WIZARD … the magic of Jeff Farmer 🧙🏽

Behind only Robbie as my favourite all-time Dee to watch live.

His 9 goal half against the filth, his Waverley goal, his mark on Garry's head. I saw them all live and so much more.

The true 'Wiz' of the AFL. What a player!

I was at the MCG Collingwood game.

9.1 goals.

WOW!

I too was at the Collingwood game. What was it like 1 kick to half time? Marked everything after that.

There's been a lot of brilliant small forwards in this game but he was a special player.

Ahh had some great memories from those video highlights...

Jeff "The Wizard" Farmer was probably one of the most exciting players to ever play at the Demons.

I remember people WANTING to go to the footy to see him play for the Demons. The excitement when Jeff Farmer had the ball in the forward line was far better than even anything Charlie Cameron has produced for the Brisbane Lions.

Jeff Farmer was probably one of the best forward pockets of his time.

It was such a travesty when he left to go to Fremantle.

I still reckon if we had kept him we could of won a Premiership in the early 2000's.

Imagine if we had both Jeff Farmer and Aaron Davey in the same team!

I'm disappointed that this thread wasn't rebooted as to a board suggestion, and then I could my Demonstone-approved line that you're all now reaching for wizzie-straws.

Maybe the media department can put something out like “there’s only one Wizard” or “we had the real wizard” or “Anything you can do he did better” you get what I mean and just show off his highlights reels all day especially when the hawks do for their phony.  The Wiz is still the best. I don’t even have to say his name, you just know. 😏

Had some real similarities to the day Jakovich ran amok at Vic Park, benched early came back on and kicked 7.

Yep, 9 goals in 40 minutes. And kicked 7 straight the following week against the Hawks at the G

Still can't believe he kicked 7 or more 5 times that year, culminating with the 8 against North in the prelim. Such a fun season watching us in 2000!

How on earth can Aaron Davey not make this list? Basically invented the defensive, high pressure small forward role in his debut year of 2004 (another fun year to watch @layzie). I seem to recall Rioli admitted at one point in his career that he was influenced by the Flash

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
