The latest in yesterday today, tomorrow segment contains the thoughts of Robert Flower!

Is there a more humble, self effacing, champion as he??

His passion and love of all things Melbourne Football Club certainly shine through.

What a magnificent human being!

Arise Sir Robert! Champion among Champions!!

Take note "Chip" Frawley. “I wasn't chasing dreams of Grand Finals - it was about what we were doing together as a group, in a place you wanted to be in, that was the Melbourne Football Club” Robbie Flower

That might have been then She Devil, but these days 99.9% of players want to win a flag desperately. That's the main reason they play the game.

I bet he'd take a $800k to 1m a year at a any club. Its about the cheque... Finals is just a bonus.

And most kids these days are obsessed with Facebook and have not heard of Copernicus or Galileo.

Doesn't make it right.

In this day and age, being obsessed with Copernicus or Galileo and not having heard of Facebook is equally wrong.

That is loser-talk if ever I've heard it. No wonder we never even made the finals.

Chook, I assume you were either too young or living in Perth (or both) to see him play but for a 40 year old like myself he is the best and most skilful player I have ever seen play for us.

He did OK in '87.

That an absolute champion like him chose to stay with Melbourne is honourable, and does nothing to sully his reputation. We still didn't accomplish much when he was there though. I wonder why that was.

Ah, Ron Burgundy, you are indeed a philipine! The great saying, those who know nothing about history just end up repeating the mistakes of the past. Hence Tony Abbott telling the world the earth is flat regarding Climate Change. Now, if he'd just heard about that fine gentleman Galileo Copernicus, a fine German Scholar, let alone heed his messages about the need to be scientific - and historic for that matter - we'd all be better off. What's facebook got to friggin well do with anything?

mrabbott doesn't truly think the world is flat, he just wants to be the centre of intention, & ontop, lest he falls off.

& like humpty dumpty, all his errors will be forgiven & fixed up on Thee day. he truly is a dangerous leader. its written in his horror scope.

A fantastic player will remember for ever a few times him floating high bumping his opponent just enough to take the mark on out stretched hands and his dad introducing the very humble kid into the Red Legs room a long time ago

Good on ya Robbie !!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
