Frawley's big strength in his AA year was his amazing strength and closing speed. He was just about unbeatable 1 on 1, either on the lead or in a wrestle. He lost this after that year though for whatever reason, and it remains to be seen if he can get that back.

I can see him getting it back quickly.

A successful culture will reinvigorate him, because he's clearly not the type of personality or player to take it upon himself to get the best out of himself week in, week out, regardless of the team's performance. He'd been hanging his head at the Dees for longer than just this year.

Take that stuff to the 'Tony Abbott is an international embarrassment thread', Webber. I need a fellow traveler over there!

Is that near the 'Science explains how things really work' thread, Colin?

One of Hawthorns big strengths is it's kicking

one of Chips big strengths is his....... ummmmmm

A curious choice really...lol

There was a thread like that that existed on the 'Land? I was sure that a 'The moon is made of cheese' thread would be more likely to exist.

At Hawthorn's first training session, 96% of the list will be hitting targets. One guy will be butchering it toward the freeway.

Never in the history of the AFL has a poorer decision-maker and executioner earned such a contract.

Surely Roos, PJ and co. wanted him to go, despite the public utterances.

well it likely they face geelong r1. He will either be on hawkins who just rag dolls him or Mitch who we know is a very good mark and a big man.

But he will play finals next year and thats what players aim to do.

Joel Patfull was traded for pick 21.

This will be a good point for future reference when people say that we got 'overs' for Frawley as pick 21 is likely what we would have got under band 2 compensation.

Patfull is a good player, but Frawley is 4 years younger, is physically bigger (4cm/ 6 kg) on a bigger contract and despite Patfull's 2x b&f's it is hard to argue that he is at Frawley's level.

What about the compo the Dogs got for Higgins, no ones batted an eyelid at that..

I don't think it would be that hard to argue if you argued on performance, energy and output over the past two or three years.

funny comments or digs at melbourne already by Frawley over at big footy.....

"Talking to Frawley the other day. Was saying how different it was at Hawthorn compared to the Dees.
Said he always felt silly doing the weekly bout of pillow fighting at Melbourne. Is really enjoying the boxing instead.
Also not missing the games of Cluedo. Or the team meetings where they all watch Peppa Pig"

"Told me he was sick of watching Sydney Swans games and Roos saying "why can't you play like them?"

Was also over Roos calling him Danny all the time."

"Frawley seeked out Lake for a chat either before he made the jump or shortly after it and Lake told Frawley you will learn more in this preseason than you have probably ever leant about a game plan before, the expectation to get better and the standard you will face will improve your game to a new level and his final bit was if you give your all the club will embrace you like no other."

....Giving his all ? He might need to revisit the dictionary on that one....

I can think of one poor executioner that earned a contract worth almost double what Frawley is getting. Funnily enough he also originally wore red and blue.

I definitely think the stuff in bold was just him having a joke, maybe a casual dig at Melbourne but while I can see the poor training standards being the norm 5 years ago I'd be surprised if Roos let them get away with that now.

The Lake bit I think is just reality. They are a well oiled machine that gets new cogs added to it every year and they mould those players to be what they want. Don't forget they got Kyle Cheyne when we traded him, now I'm not saying he's a gun but when he comes into their team he knows what to do and he knows the standards. Frawley has played for a club where you can put in 4-6 poor performances and then one good game and everything thinks you're a gun.

I have no ill will towards Chip and the way he left is the way the competition is. He put up with a lot of crap at the Dees.

'There are those who make it happen, there are those who watch it happen and there are those who wonder what happened.'

Whether or not Frawley said those things in the above post doesn't phase me. (However it wouldn't surprise me if true).

The MFC have been and still are in a 'stage' of needing players who are self driven and want to make change at the club.

Frawley, for various reasons, is not and was not ever that player/personality. Which is why he needed to go. We've been able to land two highly talented midfielders who both possess more self-drive, motivation and work ethic than Frawley ever displayed.

Supporters are shortsighted when it comes to losing players they've formed emotional attachments to. But for the long term improvement and survival of the club, we needed this to happen and I'm so glad it eventuated.

Frawley is a follower. Not a leader.

The MFC has been an environment filled with followers for too long.

This is just trolling. Someone deciding to put words in his mouth.

It's big footy. It's a given.

Cluedo might have been a stretch, can understand him not wanting to be put through that too often. Let's hope Hogan and or Dawes will be another pillow fight he doesn't want to remember either.

Agree with Pates re the 4-6 weeks of ordinary football situation for some. Sad state of past lists may have contributed to that, but that's well on the way to being rectified. The days of soft selection due to lack of options is over.

I can think of nothing better than beating Hawthorn in a final and knocking them out of the finals or beating them on the big day. Hogan rag dolling Frawley and kicking 7 goals. Then Viney going up to him at the end and saying 'You could have been playing on that chump Schoenmakers if you stayed' with a big grin on his face :-)
