Probably the smart move if they still aren't 100% on chip

Posted

The first thing we need to do money wise is start paying 100% of the cap. Once we can do that comfortably then we can look at things like VFL teams.

if its only about $500,000.00. IMO the gains from the standalone MFC Demons model would pay for itself fairly quickly, as we climbed the AFL ladder & became a strong CLUB again.

... it could be have a social benefit as well. but Dandenong would be Much more central. still in the Casey growth area reach, & to the East Gippsland & Cranbourne, & peninsular areas, whilst central to freeways & 2 Rail lines for easy transport for many.

Dandenong would be closer and more convenient to most and the old Dandenong VFA wore the same colours but the problem is the facility. The old Shepley Oval wasn't in great nick when I was last there and parking would be a major problem. Given what we're hearing about federal and state budgets I can't see the better part of $100m becoming available for that sort of development any time soon.

Has Riley been spotted as well? A thought came that if it was wet than having another runner rather than a tall could be a better choice if Frawley doesn't get up. We can move Garland/Howe to the forward line as another target and plus a reckon those conditions would suit someone like Pigdog!

Good call, while I believe Chip would play if fit but if he's not then it would probably make more sense to lose some height for extra run in these conditions. Gawn may not be of much use in what looks likely to be a tough night for the tall timber.

what I'm referring to would be Ideally a new ground, which I hope the AFL will one day see as the Ideal location as a Boutique Stadium site, to service all the Eastern & Southern suburbs, the Gippsland Region, plus the Westernport Region as far as the Island, & Mornington Peninsular areas.

The Peninsular is going to grow rapidly down Hastings way, especially when the docks are sorted out.

So I think the best for us is to keep playing at Casey for now, but to look to move into the area around the Dandenong Drive-In theatre Site, @ Dandenong Sth.

... I think you'll notice that both the Cranbourne & the Traralgon rail lines, both need an extra station close to this site to generally service the area, to allow the workers easier access to work, & for shoppers to get to retail wharehouse complexes, etc.

This would provide easy access from either the Melbourne direction by car & rail, but also from the Cranbourne growth corridor & all of Greater Gippsland by rail or car.

This would provide a fine social venue location where our growing supporter base could watch the mighty Demons reserves team, & interstate Melbourne games from, support, party & take the train close to home.

In the meantime we either stay at Casey Fields, or let Scorps stay, & move closer to another Dandenong ground, until the wise Commissioner Fitzpatrick sees the site possibilities.

Quarter Time: Casey Scorpions. 3.2.20 to Northern Blues 2.1.13 as the rain comes pouring down.

Jack Fitzpatrick injured just before the quarter time siren and looks in a bit of strife.

Riley playing?

Riley's out there but it looks like there's been a few changes in the selected side.

Toumpas is back on the ground. The game continues to be a scrappy one with the Blues doing most of the attacking. Casey lead by 5 points.

A shocker of a free kick against Casey is followed by a 50m penalty for dissent and a charity to the Blues in the goalsquare brings the margin down to 19 points. There have been some rubbish decisions against Casey in the past few weeks but that was a ripper.

Tim Smith kicks his fifth to restore a 20 point lead for the Scorpions 7.5.47 to 4.3.27.

Jack Fitzpatrick hasn't come back onto the ground since quarter time. Casey have a first gamer in the ruck and he's being assisted by Troy Davis who's about 6'3".

One of the worst games of football ever here. Tim Smith from Casey has kicked I think 5 or 6 now though. Very good.

Blease disappointing turnover moments ago to gift them a goal.

Can't seem to see Clisby either and I noted Gawn is being held over. May be a few changes tonight. No players starring given the conditions but McKenzie's had a few touches and Toumpas seems to be trying hard in the contested situations and even started a blue.

Forgot about Michie playing. Might take him a game or two to get back in the swing of things, but he should be pushing to get back in the ones by round 11/12.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
