I agree. He was playing really well off half back and is one of our best distributors.

I can see him playing the majority of his career behind the ball with stints in the middle and forward like Hodge.

He is almost identical to Luke Hodge in the way he goes about it.

The fact that we’ve won a few games without Christian Salem has made a few people forget how good he was for us earlier in the year.

Massive in.

Don't forget the golden ticket factor though

I seem to remember Dazzledavey36 writing off Salem in his first season... and yet he loves to stick the boots into everyone else for their opinions lol

Anyone that knows anything about footy could tell Salem was going to be a gun from the first game he played

Stop fighting plz

I never said he wasn't good down back in an attacking sense, still not great on a pure defensive sense.

Plus with Vanders and Tyson out we need better users around the middle and forward of the ball.

You have zero manners.

He/she obviously has nothing else to contribute. His/hers reasons why it was a crap post was... Enlightening.

Put my hand up and ate my fair share of humble pie because of it after his performance this year. Now whats your point?

Unlike you who is just a silly old fool who talks up every player on our list then turns on them at every quick opportunity is seriously quite pathetic.

I'm always willing to cop my wack on the chin and admit to whatever fault i have done in the past. Its no wonder people don't take you serious on here.

Btw loved how you had a cry last night saying i have supposedly given you cheap shots? when i come on here to have a read and see you want to take another wack at me LOL

Your a full blown hypocrit HH.

Btw to every other normal person who reads this i sincerely apologize this might have derailed this thread a tad.

Im excited to finally have someone back into the side that is genuinely very classy with the ball in hand. If he plays the remaining 4 games that takes him to 23 games in his first 2 years which is not a bad effort at all. Next year i think we will slowly see him spend more time in the midfield. His hardness and class is too good to be used down back.

Until we find someone who can play a similar role, I really like Salem off half back. His foot skills are arguably most useful in that area of the ground, where we are sorely lacking. Can't wait to see him back in action tomorrow and it's hard to believe he's only played 22 games.

Thats why i hope we recruit a talented half back flanker in the mould of Kade Kardashian from GC who can set up play off a half back with pin point foot skills to release Salem up the field.

i haven't followed this years draft as much as i have in the past so maybe Chaserjay could give us a run down of players who could fit that bill.

You like to refer to people's posts as 'nonsense' - I don't really see the difference.

Salem is the best user of the ball in our team!!!

I think Riley Bonner is of that mould, Hawks apparently want him. Would be good to use a later pick on him.

Have to say I've been the same about the draft this year, for the first time in a long time. It's refreshing not having to think about who I want us to take at pick one or two! Kolash would be a great get, was hoping we'd draft him.

Exact reason why i haven't followed the draft either.. and also that its that shallow that theres not a real standout player that gets me excited like a Brayshaw or Petracca last year.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
