He looked so clean with disposal under pressure today. It's nice to have a player with skills that you can then work on (defensively, run to space etc) rather than an "athlete". Great pick up.

He is as good as it gets Fantastic So much more to come Pick 40 something just so good

Just watch howfast his hands are makes all teh difference

A mix between Steven Motlop and Matthew Stokes. All class.

Great game from him this afternoon. Looking to be a real drafting masterstroke.

Can we get the title of the thread changed though? It's a bit misleading.

Just change the 'new' to 'real'.

I reckon a top 10 draft pick is much riskier than a 20-40 pick... more solid performers always come later

I love how after the Collingwood game on Friday night everyone was saying that the kid they had on debut (who was good) must get a Rising Star nomination, but I remember thinking to myself that there is still eight games to go, early call. Surely JKH gets the nod.

Was told we were getting a classy forward, with question marks on size and pace.

By the geniuses on Land? Oh we'll that settles it.

There was one piece of play that sums JKH up, he was just about to get the ball and was being tackled at the same time, he had the composure to take the tackle and to identify who to pass the ball as well. But it was the handball which was the most impressive part, he pretty much started the handballing action before he got the ball, so once he had it he instantly made contact with his fist and moved it on.

Simply awesome

Being it was Friday night Pies v Blues and he got the medal for BOG I would say its pretty much still a done deal.

JKH is so much more than the small forward i was expecting he is a genuine, very clever midfielder.

You can really see the midfield taking shape this year , as well as Vince and Cross, just take a look at the exciting crop of young blokes who unlike previous years are looking very exciting.

Viney, Tyson,JKH,Salem,Toumpas......all just kids but these guys will drag us out of the mire.

Was surprised by how many acting things he actually did too, thought it was just the ol' advertisement here and there:

Will be very interesting to see what position JKH plays over his career, a player with class and smarts like that could play in just about any position.

He reminds me of Brent Stanton, minus the clangers of course. Wins the footy, can link up, knows where to run.

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
