6: Jack Watts ( everything he touched turned to gold, reckon he is about to show us why he was a pick 1.)

5: Nathan Jones ( was absolutely everywhere and busted his gut.)

4: Bernie Vince ( if he kicked straight he could have had 30 touches and four goals)

3: Dom Tyson ( made mistakes but 32 touches and a goal and we have a gem on our hands)

2: Lynden Dunn ( was super impressed, his kicking was a real highlight )

1: Matt Jones ( that chase down of Gilbert, looked very zippy and clean )

6 N Jones - in everything

5 Watts - would have got 6 if left on the midfield

4 Dunn - rarely beaten

3 Toumpas - gut ran all day

2 Spencer - threw his body around, great effort

1 Georgiou - encouraging signs first up, defended well

If Vince kicked straight he could have had any of those votes!

6 - Jack Watts

Clear BOG, well not clear but just ahead of Nathan Jones.

Watts looked unbelievable tonight, 27 scintillating touches and the most impressive thing is that most were in heavy traffic.

He looked like he was on a whole other level to everyone else around him.

Great signs.

Georgiou - are you kidding?

6 - N. Jones. Still needs more help

5 - Watts. Great game with exceptional skills, poise and decision making. Would have been 6 but he still can't tackle

4 - Dunn. Is probably now our backline leader.

3 - Vince.

2. Trengove. Magnificent for 2.5 quarters.

1. M Jones. Improved as the game went on.

Can't give Tyson a vote - the errors he made were true shockers, and took wind out of our sails when we had some momentum.

6 J. Watts - 96.3%, 27 disposals, several assists, looked like he had his own personal force field he was so hard to tackle.

5 N. Jones - Pretty sure that's the most ball he's ever had. Just worked so damn hard. Would have had him BOG if he'd kicked that goal.

4 Dunn - Best of the backs. Was forced to play on a significantly bigger opponent a lot of the night and did it well.

3 Tyson - In everything, used it pretty well, second most disposals

2 Vince - would have been higher if not for the four points next to his name.

1 Spencer - As bad as his hands are, he had 40 hitouts, gave us a lot of use of the ball and fought really hard for the ground ball. He lacks class, but his effort is huge.

Georgiou - are you kidding?

I'm happy to be corrected on this one. The times I recognised him I was happy with his effort and application. It might be a case of not not seeing him enough!

And perhaps I am being harsh on Vince. He deserved to be in the top 6, I just felt his misses really cost us.

If you were in the centre square you would expect the occasional tap from Spencer.

I was a Spencer fan and he had to go all night but so did Stanley (I think).

We lost it in the middle to the worst midfield we will see.

Watts

Jones

Vince

M Jones

Dunn

Trengove

Agree with that prognosis.

6 - Nathan Jones. Heart as big as Texas.

5- Bernie Vince. Class

4- Lynden Dunn. Good all night.

3- Dom Tyson. In and under.

2- Matt Jones. A runner.

1- Jack Watts. Versatile but more intensity please

- 5 Howe ... missing in action.

-4 Pedersen ... OMG.

-3 Bail . Frustrates me every time.

So we've established that Deanox knows nothing about football. Toumpas, Spencer and Georgiou. My God.

6 - Watts (reminiscent of Travis Johnstone at his best, outstanding)

5 - N. Jones (pretty close to elite status now. Have noticed he seems to have mastered a similar tactic to Selwood in getting free's)

4 - Dunn (rock-solid)

3 - Tyson (would have been higher if not for early errors. But still good).

2 - Vince (a bit wasteful but valuable)

1 - Trengove (busy but wasteful)

No offence, but it's probably a good idea to watch the game and vote or not vote at all

6 Watts (He just seemed to be everywhere, regardless if he was touching the ball or not)

5 N Jones (what tag!)

4 Dunn (I didnt have him in best 22, eating my humble pie)

3 Tyson (great pick up)

2 Trenners (some errors but I like that he is getting amongst it)

1 Cross (11 tackles, didn't think he touched it enough but really laid some pressure)

I must admit I was pretty shattered after last night.

However in the cold light of Sunday morning...

6: Jones N. In doing this, I long for the day when I can regularly give my top votes to another player.

5: Watts. Could well be this bloke if he keeps showing what he did last night!

4: Dunn. Maturity, courage and leadership, he's gone from bit player to essential.

3: Vince. More than just a pretty face and a great off season pick up, but needs to kick straight.

(Maybe a few lessons from Dunny and Wattsy would help).

2: Tyson. Good game, but for a couple of bad clangers could have been a great game.

(Refer comments re Watts).

1: Spencer. An elephant stamp for effort.

And by the by, did anyone see #38 at the game? He was listed to play!

Or did we play with just 17 men on the ground?

I agree 100% with Sassy so I have re-posted their ranking below:

4: Bernie Vince ( if he kicked straight he could have had 30 touches and four goals)

Finding it very hard to find six players even worthy of votes but here goes:

6 Watts

5 Vince

4 N. Jones

3 Dunn

2 Tyson

1 Trengove

Posted

6. Watts (best game for the MFC. Paul Roos might be just what he needed to reach his full potential)

5. N.Jones (typical Jonesy, we've seen it all before)

4. Dunn (a vital cog in defence)

3. Vince (won plenty of ball but disposal was wayward at times)

2. M.Jones (probably recruited as a 'stop gap' mid, but on that performance he will be around for a while)

1. Trengove (if only he could regain his old zip and kicking penetration)

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
