The first edition of Inside Football for 2014 is out and, despite the obligatory cover picture showing Bucks and a bevy of Collingwood players dancing in a circle, Melbourne gets some good coverage.

There's an article on Peter Jackson and football department spending. Crackers Keenan takes aim at the club over the retrenchment of loyal staff at the same time as it is splurging $s on an expensive coach. There's a long David Rhys Jones interview with former Demon Garry Baker who was played at the club in the 70s and early 80s. There's also a satirical piece about Paul Roos and an article about former Demons Matty Bate and Jordan Gysberts returning to their roots at eastern suburbs club Norwood.

All in all a good read - especially after a win.

Peter is a kind, caring individual who does a hell of a lot for ex-VFL players who have fallen on hard times.

He also earns a fortune by being 'Crackers' in the media and at sports nights interstate.

And I'm proud to call him a mate.

You don't get a nickname like 'Crackers' by being an astute, impartial observer of club administrative decisions.

But I think we all know there was a huge need for serious change at the club, and we all accept that a few stalwarts, even some who might have been up to their task in general, were going to lose their positions in the process.

I'm sure they'll be alright though - as noted about Keenen, they have an influential friend willing to put in effort (and indirectly mention them in their column) to support anyone in a jam.

Why make changes when the recruitment, development , & culture of a club was a disgrace!

Why get rid of CS & Connolly who were part of the tanking debacle & destroyed our culture!

The pity of it is the club's own publicity machine is quickly losing favour with the fans. I'm personally getting sick of reading some of the spin about our injured players. I appreciate vital players need to have conservative treatment for certain injuries but I suspect we're not being told things as they are with certain injured players on our own club website.

I share that view.

I think we are being misled on the injury front. BUT if it translates to wins I can probably live with the deception.

It probably has to do with membership sales and also not flagging player 's injuries to the opposition.

Many will remember Sheedy's flu as the reason given for many hidden injuries of Bomber players over the years.

If we were told that Hogan and Clark were out for the year, how many memberships would be lost. I think we are just going to have to live with some inaccurate injury info from the club but we are not alone in this, they all do it.

Injury list BS has been going on as long as I have been going to matches, it annoys me but what choice do we have.

I actually think the level of BS has increased at the same rate as media coverage.

I suspect the injury to Clark is career threatening and Hogan will be out for some time.

But as you say Redleg they cannot say that.
