old dee 24,093 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Just to be fair to Clark, before he did his injury he was flying. We looked like we hit gold. The injury is no one's fault and no one was complaining about his contract when he was booting goals from everywhere. Hopefully he returns better than ever. Maybe if he does, his next contract with us will give something back, considering our return on his first. Chip if he leaves will not do it for money, as we will match it or go close. If he leaves it will be for the hope of a flag, sooner rather than later. Clark is out of contract this year if my memory is correct. Nothing said yet about him. probably everyone is waiting to see if he can play again.
old dee 24,093 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 thats why im so interested in how jamar is coming along. fitz and max are expected to play big parts if the other 2 are injured. jamar is definately needed if this is the case. I saw him play a quarter on Friday jazza. just the usual. OTH IMO.
sue 9,281 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 So very true though sue, Debt Demolition was the worst thing to ever happen to this club, it sucked people in to believing the club was headed in the right direction when all it did was give certain people a bit longer to sit in a position that they wernt worthy of, people like yourself thinking the Debts paid Cameron and he's puppets are doing a great job, I'm starting to think it was the worst thing to ever happen to this club because in anything in life you need a plan b , not a red and blue print that was as real as our next major Chinese sponsor , people like you are concerned about chips contract when guys like Clark earning double the amount think about it , CS decisions have very very long ramifications . Crikey, there are lot of things there that 'people like me' believe or are concerned with which I hadn't realised I believed or was concerned about. I haven't expressed a view on most of the things you list. Don't even recall saying that Debt Demolition was a good thing - though I'll say it now. Better than being bankrupt and crappy on the field simultaneously. To get back to injured players: as Redleg says, we all (including you?) were happy with the Mitch deal until he unexpectedly did his foot. Did anyone predict he'd have that sort of injury? Was Dawes constantly injury prone at C'wood? I don't recall that he was (bar his thumb problem which does not seem to be his problem at the MFC). There is such a thing as bad luck as well as incompetence.

I'd say that he's here to stay. we can fit all these boys into our best side... for & back.
monoccular 17,761 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Fancy that they want to hope Hogan is sound because they paid millions for two of the most injury riddled forwards the competitions ever seen, makes you wonder if they even did medical checks on them before they waved the brown paper bags in front of them, we know how quick the Clark trade occurred so theres no doubt that a medical check there wasn't done, the affects of Cameron Schwab will take this club years to repair. You're right, the club should have predicted that Clark & Dawes would suffer collision injuries... Deadset, you have absolutely NFI. I'm surprised you even know the players' names and what club you "support." Gee I bet all the clubs knew that he would land awkwardly and stuff his foot then had problems with it afterwards...........some people have no idea!! Yeah....a competent preliminary medical can always predict a Lisfranc fracture injury !!!! How silly.....and whoever drafted TheOx should have known he would do his knee. Just plain inept drafting! mjt - we must get you to do our due diligence next time around. (PS: don't take up cycling or horse riding - crystal balls don't cope too well with those sports). PPS: I wonder if you would still be saying this had Mitch not suffered that very rare (but apparently predictable) injury and gone of to win the Coleman once or maybe even twice?

There is a fairly easy argument to be made mjt that without Jimmy's debt demolition there would be no club left for you to criticise.

old dee 24,093 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 contracted till 2015 old. Thanks moonshadow and Dee-luded.So we still have a chance to get 20+ games out of the deal. My humor just imporoved.
mjt 640 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Weak but typical.I find it hard to reply to people that are dishonest , you've had a dozen different accounts if you get banned from a forum you should just read it after that but instead you wait 6 weeks and come up with another ridiculous name, as far as I'm concerned Thats dishonest so don't reply to me.
Lil_red_fire_engine 11,394 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Whilst I am disappointed that I will not see Hogan run about on Friday most players will play 2 of 3 matches and I would much prefer to see a conservative approach and Dawes and Hogan play together for the Cats and Hawks game. Thats better than Hogan playing week 1, then get rested in one of the games when he should be in tandem with Dawes. The key is to ensure they are ready for round 1.

Thats better than Hogan playing week 1, then get rested in one of the games when he should be in tandem with Dawes. The key is to ensure they are ready for round 1. Spot on. While it would be fantastic to see him out there for the first game, I'd much rather the club look after the talls and make sure they are not only right for other games in the NAB Cup, but ready to go for the season proper when it really matters. If we don't have a forward line for Friday night then we concentrate on the midfield and the game plan as a whole and see how it's implemented. There will be plenty of positives, even if we don't really have anyone to kick the ball too once we get forward of the center!
RalphiusMaximus 6,112 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 If Watts is well enough to train, he'd be well beyond the incubation period. Depends what they had. Norovirus can remain contagious three weeks after the symptoms have stopped. I think the game on Friday will be very interesting with the three big forwards missing. We'll get a very good idea of the difference our new-look midfield can make with the B Team up forward. Will superior delivery make them threatening or will the ball just rebound out again?
DeeZee 7,496 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Roos has always played his cards close to his chest in the pre season comp. Im sure round 1 versus StKilda looms very high in his thinking, and having Hogan and Dawes ready for then. Clark probably by round three. This is a chance to see who wants it most, as a couple are going to have to make way for the big fellas. Pederson, Fitzy,JKH,Salem and others will get their chance to impress. He would want to tune up his avenues to goal, using guys like Vince,JKH, Toumpas Howe etc. , with guys like Cross ,Tyson and Michie and Watts, adding to , and improving our ball movement on previous years.

Do I really have to say it - It's a practice game.
Cards13 9,117 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Would rather see a half decent midfield getting up and running the next 2 weeks for us and the fwds work into it over the next 4 weeks.
Dr. Gonzo 24,468 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 If you read the article he actually says Hogan and Dawes will both be right for NAB 2 vs Geelong - it seems they probably could've played them this week but want that extra fortnight of training into them to make sure they're both right for round 1 and don't fall victim to a soft tissue injury because we rushed them in underdone for a practice game. They're managing them because of how important they are for our structure especially with question marks over Clark's return. You can bet if we played Hogan and Dawes this week to appease the mjt types and one or both had a soft tissue niggle they'd be lambasting all and sundry. Sure I'm disappointed I won't get to see them (especially Hogan) on Friday but it's r1 vs Saints I'm more worried about.
Qld dee 8 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Don't worry about the forward line we have the toump

What I will never forgive Schwab and Neeld for is their neglect in failing to consult the writings of Nostradamus before they went on their recruiting campaigns for Mitch Clark and Chris Dawes. "'The young lion will overcome the older one, On the field of combat in a single battle; He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage, Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death." This is clearly a reference to the demise through injury of both players. If only those morons understood the prophesy, it would have saved us a lot of misery. You can throw McLardy in with that lot as well. He could have put a stop to this nonsense if he wanted to.
beelzebub 23,392 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Keep the reports coming guys. Some of us are chained to the office!! or a worksite
beelzebub 23,392 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 contracted till 2015 old. end of 2015 ?
Moonshadow 17,678 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 end of 2015 ? Clark's contract is up Oct 2015.
Whispering_Jack 31,381 Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 The modus operandi is typical Roos. Use the preseason competition to test things out, try different players and give as little as possible away. The Tigers aren't going to run out with their strongest team either so we have a true practice match. No prize money or sheep stations at stake and the result meaningless if we play half a side. The worst thing they could do on Friday is agree to have Paul Roos miked up for him to direct one of our forwards to not try hard to kick a goal which he did once at the Swans.
