Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not to say I know anything of the situation but I'd imagine his time away from the club wouldn't be substantial. You'd imagine that at this time he'd be at the club supporting the boys. It's what he should be doing. Tbh I expect him to be playing half-way through the year.

i hope your right! we are desperate for him to return.

Not to say I know anything of the situation Thats a GIVEN... we dont know other than what we're informed of and other annecdoctal observations

but I'd imagine his time away from the club wouldn't be substantial. ?? Based on..its a guess surely..a hopeful one at that. He's got distinct health issues with no timetable to to a complete fix. None that anyones aware of. Depression isnt a 5 min fix. Could be years, seldom months. Its incidious

You'd imagine that at this time he'd be at the club supporting the boys. It's what he should be doing. Tbh I expect him to be playing half-way through the year. If he has trouble handling his situation I cant imagine its any good him sitting in the stands etc or giving much of a ra-ra at training

he needs to get his [censored] together. It will take a while.

The longer it takes the lesser the chance of really making an impact,or even for that matter making the list. A long way to go .

Don't know if it's worth much, but Clark just drove right past me looking fairly relaxed. I'm not far from AAMI Park, and he might just live in the area.. coincidence? Probably.

Should have made a citizen's arrest and released him onto the park once a week for a couple of hours.

You can look something and feel something completely different, wouldn't look into it deeply though.

Oh no doubt, I can't read much into a five second glance of the guy, half of which was me double taking to make sure it was him. I don't think the world's best psychologist could.

I'm just glad he's still in Melbourne, and was possibly on his way to/from the club.

Depression is what he's got? Is that what you know? The club I felt made it clear that he was frustrated about the injuries and this affected him mentally. We're not talking about acute depression here. Everyone gets depressed about issues in their lives and I am not invalidating his perceived depression but the reality is he's the kind of guy we need around the club now, even if he isn't playing. He SHOULD be at the club. You're telling me that because he's minds a bit off because of injuries he can't go near the club? Give me a break!

If it is indeed depression I'd imagine being around his mates and the club would assist him. I'm assuming all of those things because I can't imagine he wants to give up football all together.

what you are doing here is arguing in a circle

You say you dont know what hes got, then you do , or if, and a maybe... a few imagines......and an assumption or two

But I grant you its what we all are doing essentially

my view IS based on the notion hes suffering from depression. This has all but been underlined by various quotes form the club and a bit of reading between the lines. If its not , b, or c then D is a very good candidate.

If D its serious D otherwise a few happy pills is the go. Its beyond the scope of this medication it seems thus justifying an extended absence.

Quite often the last place anyone with such conditions will want to be is surrounded by the cause of their malaise.

I dont expect him back..If he does play this year I see that a s a bonus.

One of the current players fathers told me on sunday that its simply because he is so damn frustrated at not getting fit to play, and he is getting paid all this money, it is doing his head in.

None of you know exactly what's wrong.

None of you know the exact situation.

None of you know the best way for Mitch to get better.

Stop talking like you know anything, because you don't.

I'd assume that it's external influences that are having more impact than his physical inability to heal properly and get on the park.

I'm also assuming that the club would have controls in place that treat the mental conditioning of his injury treatment as well as the physical. Maybe this is part of the process at this point in time.

Putting myself in his shoes, if things on the home front were fine and everything else was going along well, I would just suck it up and do as the club asks with regards to any treatment whatsoever.

As I say, this is just another opinion in a tough situation but I honestly feel that Clark is dealing with greater issues outside of the club.

Get his head right, then get his body right.

More assumptions, just what this thread needs.

Mods can we pleeeeeeease close this thread until there's something factual available. More trouble than it's worth right now.

Don't see this as criticism McQueen But that appears to be way easier to say than do.

He is firmly in the "Probably seen him play his last game" as far as I see it.

I stated they were assumptions, Einstein!

Good idea, close the thread so we don't have to put up with your comments anymore.

You're still a little too emotionally connected to this topic after having your own thread merged a couple of weeks ago? Unbelievable.

Then for god's sake don't come onto the thread.

He is currently on the MFC list, he is the highest paid player, he maybe the most talented on the list.

People are going to want to discuss him.

Discussion about him as a player is all well and good, but the constant rumours and assumptions about his personal life are nothing but harmful.

Go watch Days Of Our Lives if that's what you want.

Word coming out that Clark and his manager will meet with Melbourne officials in the next week, severance package and retirement announcement to be announced.

Not at all what I wanted or hoped for, but I'm hoping that Mitch can get his life back on track. It's a shame that we didn't see him long enough, the afl is worse off for it but health and family come first. All the best

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
