Not cool Gaz.

And the first nomination for worst post of 2014 is...

Moonshadow!!!

Please leave all feuds at the door...the original poster should be left to shine like a shaft of gold when all around is darkness (see Monty Python's Oscar Wilde for more detail)

The Van Berios Brothers are from the West Perth FC so I wish Nathan a speedy recovery.

sorry if my post was offence to any one in demonland but how many times when a players gets traded does the club he moves on from get a major injury to a similar type of player.Okay its just pure bad luck great example crows; tippet goes to swans walker goes down,

Well he needed same-day surgery so I'm thinking it was pretty serious.

I think that's more because the surgeon was available and it's a pretty straight forward surgery. Just sew it all together and jobs done and he can't start rehab quicker.

It's a serious injury because the calf muscle (which forms the achilles tendon) is out of action. So you have to take your time to make sure the tendon heals and then you have to build up the muscle as well. I think in the past some older players (who struggle with calf injuries anyway) are never the same after an achilles. That may have been the case. Either way I think NVB's season is all but over.

As is the point of this thread the crows will in some ways now miss Vince more. But they have Dangerfield, Sloane, Thompson, Douglas and a fair raft of decent young mids (Lyons, Grigg, Kerridge, Crouch) who will get more of a shot now.

They might be regretting delisting Aidan Riley as well.

They're saying 3 months .... If he is back in 3 months then I would be investigating them for every drug under the sun for Nathan. Swallow did his against us and still isn't back full training. Shocking injury to a very good player and I'm sure we all wish him all the best.

Sounds like 3 months might be the new 2 weeks.

He may be back training in 3 months but I highly doubt playing unless he did not snap it only slight tear?

Achilles injuries are very serious aren't they?

If it is a ruptured Achilles, it is a lot worse than a knee reco. Longer recovery and ongoing effects. Terrible news

they latest report said its gonna heel

I can't stand the Crows, well their supporters anyway. So I'm happy to see them remain down the lower end of the ladder.

As for the injury I wouldn't wish an Achilles rupture (or ACL) on any player... hmmm maybe Harry O oops I mean Heritier Lumumba or... Jake King... or Dane Swan... :D

On a serious note, it does sound bizarre as to how it was done with the training sled going into it, poor bugger.

A ruptured Achilles is NOT worse than an ACL reconstruction. It is simpler and quicker to full capacity. Surgery is immediate to repair the tendon which will not be up for full weight bearing (body weight) for 3 months. He may play by July/august. Russell Robertson was the last MFC player to rupture his Achilles. NVB will return to football, no problem.

Hate the crows with a passion.

If they are in the bottom half of the ladder I will be a happy camper.

NVB will return to football, no problem.

He will but unless he recuperates perfectly and does well with his rehab, it's likely not until 2015. Unfortunate, because he's a good leader at the Crows. I suppose it will give Dangerfield the opportunity to take the mantle and I'm sure he's up to it.

They have now lost Van Berlo and Bernie Vince from their 2013 midfield

WIll be interesting to see if they can fill the void

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
