Spud footballer. I hear Brent Grgic is doing wonders down Geelong way. Lets have a second crack at him.

Won a few flags with Bell Post Hill, who play in the third tier Geelong league... must be ready for an AFL call up now...

Another "Stellar" performance in a losing Norwood team 14 disposals at CHF including 10 marks.(8 contested)

A mate of mine who follows Norwood has said that he is playing very good footy at the moment!

I would not be surprised if there is interest from several AFL clubs!

Would be a good football story and comeback from a much maligned ( on this forum) player!

'picket', his performances probably deserved some criticism mate. He was always a good to better than good VFL player and had some exceptional performances at that level but it was only fleeting at AFL level.

Good luck to him if he gets another shot at it, he's doing everything right to make it happen and that's got to be worth something.

Yep lets throw Brock in and go the trifecta.

I seriously doubt Juice will get too much serious attention

What this thread needs right now is some unquestionably correct insight from Stuie.

You, sir, are a tease.

Is that you Juice?

Is that you Juice?

From reading this thread from start to finish I am thinking Picket Fence could be Juice...that or he's just an idi@t.

Juice Newton continued his fine form last night booting 6 goals in Norwood's last match before finals. This takes him to 50 goals for the season.

From what I understand from a source in Adelaide, two AFL Clubs are thinking about him for possible drafting next year and why not? still only 27, mature age has put on some size and is playing with aggression and kicking goals.

I for one would not begrudge a much maligned player on this forum another shot at it!

i'm starting to think i'd prefer newton over watts

nah....what am i thinking, it's not a race to the bottom, we are already there

I hope we are NOT one of the clubs interested, However would love him to go somewhere else and play good footy, would put egg on a few faces around here!

I fail to see the point of ridiculing a guy who has battled on despite setbacks and established himself as a top performer in a major competition.

Onya Juice.

Ah Smithy, the seasoned voice of good reason! Cheers, Fence!

Tell me this G Smith, do you think he would be worth another shot in AFL?

I have my doubts mate, reckon the pace of the game would make it difficult for him. If however he has put on muscle as you suggest maybe Michael could kick goals in the manner Hawkins and Cloke do.

Guess I'm sitting on the fence :)

Surprised to see how much muscle mass he has put on, looks the goods and can see why fence has such a man crash...

Sure, and Magner and Valenti dominate each week for Port Melbourne. Maybe we can get the whole gang back together.

in 7 years with the mfc the only thing juice improved on was his ps3 scores

At least he was productive off field.

Must have honed his radar.

Hnmm 12th in the Margarey Medal? not bad, not bad!

Isaac Newton proposed the theory of gravity - if you drop things they fall: Michael Newton's marking attempts often proved the theory.

PS: I would far prefer Leigh Newton, even at this stage, to Michael. Another very promising young Demon tall cruelly cut down by injury.

A one-trick-pony i.e. an intermittent powerful overhead mark interspersed with dropped howlers and embarrassingly unathletic at ground level .

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
