First International Rules Game this Sunday (20th) from 6:30 a.m.

Just a heads up for anyone who may be interested; the International Rules game will be live from Ireland on 7Mate starting at 6:30am on Sunday morning. With Aaron Davey installed as VC and Dom Barry playing his first game at a "senior" level, it at least means it holds some interest for us.

Please don't use this thread just to run the format down or to derail the thread with petty arguments about the worth of this game.

Won't get a chance to watch it as I'm abroad but I'd be interested in hearing how the games go. Was travelling through Vietnam with an Irishman a few weeks ago and he used to play for County Mayo who were in the final, we found a pub playing it and both teams were full of massive units. Didn't remind me of the international rules teams they used to field, all these blokes looked like they spend hours in the gym and were bigger than a lot of AFL players.

If a lot of the bigger fellas get in the team it'd be interesting to see how they go against a much smaller than usual Aussie side.

Hope Dom Barry has managed to avoid coming under a few wayward influences.

Edit: maybe not as bad as it first seemed... subsequent tweets:

I doubt it would be seen like that at all. Just because you and others don't like the game, doesn't mean that the players feel the same way and it certainly doesn't mean that the AFL won't see it as these players representing their code and their country overseas.

Our opinions of the game don't come into this at all. I would hope that bad influences don't have an affect on a young player like Dom Barry who has played no AFL at the top level and is probably a little star struck with the company he is keeping.
