Does anyone have any footage of the wallis hit on brad green? I've seen the Michael long one on you tube but I can't seem to find the wallis hit anywhere. I was at the grand final too but much younger and can't remember the wallis incident.

They were probably on drugs even then...

dont be silly, James Hird was just seeing Shane Charter in his playing days for 'dietary advice'

I guess our lack of success makes some fester over such relatively minor issues that are trivial today.

FWIW, MFC were embarrassingly outplayed in all facets in the 2000 GF.

And IMO I have no issue with Wallis action on Green. They sought to upset a young player who had been prominent in the finals for MFC.

I was ropable that the AFL did not harshly punish Long for his dangerous hit on Simmonds. He should have gone for half a season for it.

It was an unfortunate blemish on a fine footballer and excellent community leader.

LOL I am a Frog so I have no hands or fists.

Personally I would just ignore a tool like Wallis as he would not be worth my time as hes just an ex EsseThug player.

Sheedy made it all happen.

The only risk to essendon in the 2000 GF was a few very young MFC players; Green was one.

Wallis had not played one game in the 1s that year (re-read that); Sheedy brought him in purely to take out Green and others. No other reason.

For mine, Sheedy and Wallis have been beneath contempt since that day.

(And pity the essendon player(s) who stood aside for Wallis.)

Sheedy = %^&* Wallis = ^&%$

Mono, your imaginative point rests on the bold and underlined assertion that Sheedy & Wallis are beneath contempt because Wallis was selected out of the blue for the 2000 grand final as a hired gun, brought in for his only game of 2000 simply to pick off Demon players.

Would you like to know that Wallis actually played 16 games in 2000, including the qualifying final and preliminary final. (Re-read that.)

Clearly very wrong...apologies to all

You may be confusing 2000 with 1993, when Sheedy selected Wallis for the grand final to replace Derek Kickett. That year Wallis had not played since late in the home-and-away season, but came in and ironed out Mil Hanna.

Maybe.....

Gee I hope you weren't there when Big Carl was playing....Or Don Scott or Mad dog Muir....or many of the other thugs that ruled the VFL/AFL.....Duncan Wright???who knocked out Somerville in a semi final...

In defence of Wallis....I think he was going for the Jaw and miscalculated....but time to move on...those days are past...

Just because people used to be thugs doesn't make it ok. Civilisation moves on, as it were, otherwise we'd all still be living in caves.

That's a good point!

Take an illustrative quote to extremes to attempt to establish it is ok to bash people. Excellent!

Its never OK to bash someone but I am allowed to have a little fun with you quote

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
