You are a very erudite man 'tack !!

You may say erudite... others would say araldite; something about me being epoxy something-or-other.

Agree with the sentiment. I have never been offended if people find my posts terrible, tell me. I have no issue telling Demoneyes I think some of his rumours are terrible, you can do it in a non-offence way and even on a thread about respect people still seem to want to toe the line!

It's frustrating because some of the most astute brains on here also seem to be the ones who most enjoy putting down others, I'm sure others agree but if you're out there reading this and thinking about making a splash on Demonland I guarantee you the posters on here worth impressing will be far more grateful for good input rather than good insults.

The rule of thumb I try to follow (not always successfully in some cases!):

1) Don't revert to personal insults.

2) If I disagree with someone, try to sugar coat my opposition as much as I can.

The last two odd years did some horrible things to this grand old club. We were as divided as I can ever remember us. I'm looking forward to next year when we can start talking about the positives in the club rather than rehashing old battles.

It amazes me the amount of unrespectful communication on this site towards others. I feel it is some people's mission just to tear apart every thread with no real desire to add something meaningful! Please remember this is a thread for all who love the Demons. We are all supporting and (hopefully) members of the same team. Any little piece of information should be welcomed and not trodden into the ground time and time again. The amount of abuse and bad comments towards some posters makes me cringe and I certainly hope that those that do these posts do not have a bigger issue to deal with like a bullying claim or possible suicide of the receiver as has happened on facebook and elsewhere and to a personal friend of mine.

Be nice and respectful. You may feel better for it!

Here here, Demoneyes! Some on this site seem to think it smart to abuse and insult others just because they disagree with them. I find this particularly applies if you suggest something from left field or a bit unconventional. Innovative thinking is regarded by many on here as either ignorant or crazy. It is neither of course, it is the basis of competitive advantage both in business and sport, as I have seen over and over in my business career. It is often the things that are most subject to ridicule, mostly by people who are uncomfortable with change or are incapable of thinking outside the box, and don't have the ability to mount cogent arguments for or against. Instead they descend into personal abuse.

Your point is very well made. Let's hope as a result of your posting tolerance and the quality of debate improves and becomes more respectful. After all, we are all after the same thing, to return the mighty Dees to the place where they should be - in the elite of the AFL.

Will change when we win games.

But there will always be a few.

No matter where we are on the ladder, good manners and respect should always apply. In fact it applies even more so when you are down the bottom because you want constructive, innovative debate to create the conditions for progress and to help to bring about creative improvement. If we are all confined to conventional thinking because we are afraid of the personal abuse it will heap upon us if we express new ideas, we will not progress at all.

When you are down and out, that is when you need the most creative and best brains to be applied to the problem, not blind conformity.

How would you feel if you had someone in your business who was simply riding along on the back of the innovative thinking of others in the organisation and claiming it as his or her own? Because that is essentially what Demoneyes has been called out for on numerous occasions. The "abuse" directed at Demoneyes for the most part has been pretty tame, particularly when you take into account his drunken ramblings on Saturday evening... I was actually surprised there was no reprimand from the mods (perhaps there was and it was a slap on the wrist that we are unaware of?).

As another poster mentioned, respect has to be earned and hopefully Demoneyes will earn that respect... who knows, he may even start to post some of those innovative ideas you alluded to. I certainly hope so.

The big red X in the top right of the screen solves most internet related bum hurt.

But this place is pretty good for getting rid of trolls and [censored] so the X should only be used by the thinner skinned of us.

I have no knowledge of Demoneyes behavior or indeed past posts. I was talking about principles here, and what he said on the face of it was reasonable. He was articulating what I think most would agree is an issue on Demonland. If he is being hypocritical in so doing, then that is for others to judge as I have no specific knowledge of it.

All I ask is that my post is judged on the principles it espouses, and the opportunities it presents, not on the personal lifestyle choices of Demoneyes, of which I have no knowledge.

You have my vote CBF I try and follow a similar line.

Unfortuinately there are a few that seem to have the daily aim of humilating other posters.

Cannot win them all I guess.

IMO the MFC has no choice but to forward as one or it will surely be dead in five yaers.

I participate in a lot of online communities but I have to say this one is probably the most cordial and welcoming.

There are a few bad eggs but on the whole there are a lot less of them than in other communities.

There are FAR FAR less outright trolls on here than any other forum I've ever been a part of. The vast majority of posters do the right thing here and I really enjoy reading it.

Sometimes we talk in circles, but who cares, it's an internet forum not a science journal.

Also this forum is very, very well moderated. I've done some forum moderation in the past and it's not easy. These guys do an amazing job.

Don't worry about Moonie's comments Clint - he is a very bitter fellow. He's probably just jealous of your popularity.

I reckon so!

Really? Sick of re-explaining part of your post, so won't. And this is a forum to discuss things as you hear them, which I and many others do. I generally don't have time to scroll through countless other posts to see if it is mentioned before. I say it, as others do when they hear it! And whether it comes from a mate at the pub, at an airport or anywhere else, it doesn't really matter. You can discuss it cordially or since you probably have nothing better to add, say nothing. And finally, yes , what brought me to the subject, was the way I was dealt with but that is not the crux of the matter, it is how all others are dealt with also. As someone said, 99% on here are respectful. It shows quite clearly from the start of this thread those who are not!

There was a severe reprimand and it has been made clear that if it ever happens again he will be instantly banned. It was juvenile behaviour that wasted mine and other mods time in cleaning it up.

I would like to add that Demonlanders should refer to the code of conduct (http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15-code-of-conduct-moderating-guide/) and the thread re: abuse (http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/34199-reminder-on-personal-abuse/). The mods try to clean up and reprimand or ban when warranted when they can but things obviously get missed. You too can police the boards by reporting offending posts using the Report Button.

I'm a realist. The internet is a tough world.

I often approach the keyboard in full army regalia and a smear of black paint across both cheeks. It's warfare man.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
