Footy Classified just reported that he has been told that he's "not welcome" at the pies. Find that statement hard to believe, but anyway, he's gone

Not so Jolly ??

the big question is....

who would you rather

Jolly or Jamar?

TBH, I think Spencer, Gawn and Fitzy are our future, and don't really think the MFC requires either.

Jolly by a long way. Interesting that he's been linked to us a couple of times. Maybe a straight swap, Jolly becomes our number one Ruckman for a year on the proviso that he stays on a as ruck coach in 2015 and beyond, Collingwood get a Ruckman (Jamar) that can mentor Grundy and Witts. Odd, maybe, but could work - assume Roos and Jolly have a good relationship

We have already had him once, I don't think we need him again, especially as he is now old and worn out.

If we want a ruck coach, invite Jeff white back to the club.

I dont think that Spencer/Gawn are good enough to ruck solo at the moment.

We need a experienced ruckman still

His body is just about shot and he is beyond his best

It's shame we got rid of him to start with!

Why keep Jolly when Grundy is tearing it up and Witts is a very handy big man. Grundy will be the best ruck in the AFL in 3 yrs IMO.

According to OTC tonight, Shaw, Maxwell, Thomas, Lynch are also on the outer.

The Pies will need another tall to help out Cloke.

Ironic really. I'm happy we landed Dawes.

White actually runs his business through the Gold Coast, and does some casual coaching at the Suns too.

How he slipped to pick 18 or so in last year's draft still intrigues me.

Grundy is more of a steal at pick 18 than Darling was for WCE at 27 (or whatever it was).

Edit: I can tell you are intrigued, Ron, by the look on your avatar face!

Jolly has had a stellar career since the Dees lured a reluctant cabinet maker from Lexton(?) to try his luck in the big time. Watching him play this year it seemed the game had passed him by.

I am happy with Spencer and Gawn leading our rucks with Fitzpatrick and the perenially injured Jamar providing occasional back up when required. Would also rookie a developing ruckman.

Why do either need to ruck solo. From my reckoning Will Minson is the only solo ruckman actually doing it competently, each team really needs two rucks out there. Sydney seems to have 3-4 options...

Yes one burnt out ruck man for another.

Jolly is finished after a great career. Jamar is in the shadow of his career and nearly done.

Really why would either side bother?

And I am sure Roos would know better than most what Jolly is capable going forward.

"Not welcome" sounds very sinister. Do they just mean "thanks for your time but your time is over". Or is there something more going on? A lot of people leaving the pies, onfield and off.

Buckley may have been a terrible choice.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
