Found this on the Gold Coast Bigfooty Board.

Hi guys, I'm new but I know a couple of the players who play for us.

A few rumors I've heard swirling around lately.
1. Swallow looks set to be traded to Melbourne. Clayton is reportedly a fan of the move as it means that our list age will start to spread out. He is of the belief that Aish (who we would most likely get in the trade as we would receive pick 2) is just as good as Swallow. Swallow wanted out of the club 2 years ago and requested a trade to North but we declined. From what I hear the club will not stand in the way of Swallow going to the Demons. He has been offered a lucrative deal that we have stated is 'un-matchable'.
2. The club is reportedly looking at Michael Voss as an assistant in 2014 which would be a great addition.
3. Don't be surprised if James Frawely comes to the suns. McKenna is reportedly a big fan.
4. Heath Shaw and Dale Thomas have been discussed at length but no formal offer has been tabled to date. I would expect negotiations would develop this week now that Collingwood's season is over.

Cheers.

I know people are going to say oh its only bigfooty blah blah blah.. but its something to discuss.

Personally I would do it. His potential is far much great then Sloane and Selwood.

The guy was a jet at under 18 level and even his first couple of years he looked really good!

only 20 years old with already 50 games under his belt.

Inside mid who has break away pace and is tough and courage's.

Built like a brickshitouse too!

Thoughts?

Others won't, but I'd do that deal.

YES, I know he didn't have a good year, but I've seen enough to know he's a very high quality talent and imo will be elite. He's at the perfect age to come in and impact games as well as our midfield.

It would be a huge coup in my eyes.

One of Taylor Adams or Swallow would be massive.

Can we get their Pick 5 back aswell?

I would be happy to get these solid bodies into the club but I don't want to overpay.

We would be giving back more obviously - Swallow and 5 for Aish and 17 etc.

McKenna is a big fan of Frawley? Get in line.

I love the rumour mill, dazzler, so keep them coming. I will say though that "set to be traded to Melbourne" is pretty premature, especially if they think Aish will be the prize. If we get pick 1, then that alters things completely, for both parties. We'll get plenty of offers for pick 2.

Yes Yes and Yes if we can get him.

Would gladly give up pick 2 for him as he is already proven and behind the hottest midfield talent in the country.

I would have thought they would be looking to trade a midfielder for a Frawley though and not sure Roos would give up his best key position player.

but for pick 2absolutely. They would want pick 2 + something reasonable though as Aish is totally unproven.

If we get say pick 2 and priority pick 3 I would easily trade it for Swallow and keep 3 on a mid in the draft.

Wasn't there a report a while ago on SEN that we had put in a pretty big offer to Swallow anyway??

Posted

One thing in his favour is his size. I would love to get Jones some help in the clinches. I love Matt Jones and Jack Viney will be a star, but they are not ready to help to the extent that Swallow could.

Frawley has a year to go, so GC would have to cough up big time to get him. Could we do a 3 way deal with GC and GWS to get Adams and Miles from GWS for Chip?

Still, I reckon Chip would want to stay now that we have a proven premiership coach. I'd hate to lose him.

Adams and Miles for Frawley. Or do you mean Adams, Miles and Swallow for Frawley. First one is laughable. Second one isn't all that great either.

I would be over the moon with Swallow, I think he will be an absolute gun. He is the complete package; big, quick, hard and uses the ball well. Coming into his peak soon, he'd be the perfect player for us to get and would definetely help us start climbing up the ladder over the next few years.

Posted

Anyone else think he's a better half back flanker than midfielder anyway. Another Grimes type?

Very different to Grimes. Far more solid, wins contested ball. Would start in the square

I've not seen enough of Swallow, but what I have seen I liked but he has never mad me drool over him.

He was best on against us when we played them up there, he's ball use off halfback cut us up.

I would think definetely not. He's been a midfielder his whole life, until recently at GC and I think that's only because of their midfield depth. We don't have the same luxury so I'd imagine he would slot straight into our midfield

Grimes was a midfielder at junior level. What I see of Swallow is that he's got a bigger body than Grimes but he also seems stiff in the hips and a more natural winner of the ball in space compared to someone like a Jack Viney as an in and under mid. But maybe I'm wrong. He'd certainly be good enough to start for us in the midfield but I wonder if he'll ever be a jet midfielder.

I think we was mis-used this season due to the GC's plethora of top mids. He really should be starting in the centre square and would flourish if given the chance IMO. Also being back near his brother may also help his mindset as well. I really hope we get this trade done.

Frank I haven't played in 12 years and I reckon I could get 20 possessions against us.

How has he gone against decent sides?

Haha that is a very fair point, but watching the game against us you could just tell he could play. For the rest of the year he was in and out of games, but everything he does is class. I think playing as a midfielder he could really go up a level or two next year and start to influence games consistently.

Swallow is staying up here and that story that he wanted to play with his brother is crap because he was asked that question before signing his new contract and he said "the only way we will play together is if he comes and plays at the Suns"

Swallow is a WA boy and is very close to other WA boys in Harley Bennel,Brandon Matera,Jaegar O'Meara and Jack Martin.

Jack Martin signed a 5 year deal and hasn't played a game yet.

With Ablett,it will be the best midfield in the land in 3 years.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
